My daughter hated the dentist, but because of the amazing staff at HFD, especially dentist Amanda, she has made my daughters experience a good one. Amanda shows she cared for my daughters healthy smile as well as her feelings to make she sure was okay every step of the way! We’ve gone through MANY dentist, and this one is by far the best one!

After confirming no out of pocket expense after insurance when making appointment, was told there was a charge upon arrival. Welcome greeting was less than mediocre. Waited an hour for exam after x-rays, room was freezing cold.

I was a patient for braces until May of this year. Because I am a military spouse, I made it clear during my consultations that I would not be on island for the entire three years I would need braces. I was assured over and over that transferring my records and money for any portion of my treatment would be no problem at all. Well, surprise....it's been a huge problem. After 4 or 5 phone calls and at least 7 emails, I have gotten NOTHING. The only response I ever got was "we've received your form. Thanks." No confirmation that records were transferred, and they completely ignored my request to have the portion of my payment transferred to my new provider (or refunded to me.) So I paid 100% for a service that I only received 70% of, and now that I'm not a paying patient, I might as well be invisible. Extremely shady business practices!
The only reason this is not a 1-star review is because Dr. Tom was great, and has nothing to do with the financial/admin part of the office.
***Update*** I finally found the corporate customer service email address and reported whathat was happening. I got a response in less than a day and was told I'd be receiving the partial refund and my records were sent to me so I could finally give them to my new provider. I'll wait to update the rating until I actually receive the promised refund, though.

Today is 10/23/2018, my husbands cleaning appoinment was scheduled for 10/25/2018. I called to cancel his appointment due to work related issue. Gabby told me we would be charged a cancelation fee if we didnt reschedule, so I told her ok is there anything next month, she put me on hold and transferred me to Sasha. Sasha made it a point to inform us that if he cancels on the next appointment we would be charged for that appointment and the appt that was scheduled on the 25th.
I snapped at her about how upset I was that they had cancelled my appointments without advance notice in the past, once while I was about to leave my house to go to my appointment, and on a different incident I had actually made it to the receptionist counter and the receptionist told me my appointment was cancelled because the dentist called in sick.
I tried to reschedule a time suitable for my husband. He finishes work at 3:30pm Monday-friday. So he could only be scheduled after 3:30pm. Sasha stated "the doctor only sees deliveries during that time" (I have no idea what that means). I made sure to cancel any and all future appointments for my entire family.

You never told me my hygentist had left your employment which would of been nice instead you just threw it at me.
Cinamon the new person was okay.. but very unfriendly .. in the past was great with Ronny she knew me we chatted as I get clean.
Most of all the DENTAL CHAIR HURT MY BACK AND I HAD A BACK ACE MOST OF THE DAY. IT WAS ONE OF THE OLDER CHAIRS.

Very good experience at Hawaii family dental. Both my wife and I had cleaning/checkup completed and are very satisfied.We both had new hygienists as i believe ours moved on with our doctors move..Kind, companionate, and caring..we are totally satisfied..Tony and Carole
