Smile Savers Dentistry

I visited Smile Savers Dentistry in the 2nd week of August to get an emergency exam done. My exam was comprehensive and had full X-rays, I was explained what and why I needed each procedure I was recommended, clearly. Was given a prescription for an antibiotic that removed the pain in one of my teeth. The staff were friendly and jovial, the atmosphere of the office is professional yet relaxed, the place is very clean.

Here is where the good ends. Near the end of the exam, I felt like I was in a car dealership, being recommended special mouth rinses and overpriced electric toothbrushes. It was a strange and slightly uncomfortable experience but I shrugged it off. Like many other people writing reviews, the costs levied by this dentist are outrageously high. I was quoted around $9,000 for work that included multiple fillings, extractions, a root canal, and crown. Now, this seems high, but it is Columbia after all, and a lot of things are more expensive around here. I told myself this until I visited other dentists in the surrounding area. Two dentists (who both saw me without an exam fee, completely free 2nd opinions) both quoted me itemized prices of $6,000 and $5,500, respectively for the exact work listed on my Payment Plan sheet given to me by Smile Savers Dentistry. When I returned to Smile Savers today to inquire about getting itemized costs for each procedure they had recommended to me, they flat out refused to give out that information, stating that,

"They did not want to deal with price comparers".

Gigantic red flag. It is essentially saying to everyone, "We do not give out our individualized pricing on procedures because that is where we hike our pricing unnecessarily." I assume this practice is legal, but certainly unethical.

I understand that dentistry, like any other professional service, is a business. You have to make a profit to keep paying employees and yourself, the owner. But when you consider that dental insurance is nigh-useless in America in covering any major procedures and other surrounding dentists in this very area are completely transparent in giving out procedure costs, you have better, and frankly, more honest choices in dentists that actually have integrity.

Do not, under any circumstance, give Smile Savers Dentistry your hard earned money. Spend it somewhere that deserves it.

I came in for a dental emergency. I knew I needed an extraction. The staff is very pleasant and I was prescribed the antibiotic. I was told they would call my midwife to get approval for the x ray and extraction especially since I am in my third trimester and there was concern about my dental needs. I assumed because potential harm could occur because of a tooth being dead that they would take care of it. I was told after talking to my midwife I would be scheduled to come in for the procedure the next week. A week later, I still hadn’t recieved a call with an appt. I had to call twice to only recieve the info that the surgeon wasnt in the office and they had to again- get back to me. Its very frustrating when you go for an emergency that didnt seem to be handled as one. I was confused as to why within a week my midwife hadnt been called and no one had any information for me when I had to initiate communication a few times. Unfortunately I was able to schedule elsewhere - took a matter of 10min to get a faxed approval from my midwife to another dental office where my needs will be met in that office tomorrow. Very nice staff, but I was displeased with the service - shouldnt take a week to make one phone call and essentially leave someone with an emergency hanging.

Smile Savers is definitely the perfect name for this Denistry!!!Because they were able to save me lol ....I called last minute for an extraction to deploy and they were able to see me same day. The energy of the office is amazing and the have just gained a new patient!!!!!

A PRAYER ANSWERED!!! I had a loose tooth in the front due to bone loss. After getting same exact opinions from three specialists, they all told me I will lose the tooth and an implant or bridge would go in its place. Well, I did not want to hear that. So I prayed and asked God to let me keep that tooth. He led me to Dr. Stewart at Smile Savers who thought outside the box. He suggested a crown for that tooth which is stabilized today. I traveled far but I found a dentist who strives so it's worth the drive.

Everyone here is super awesome and make the dental experience worth it! Dr. Stewart and staff made my Invisalign process super easy! My teeth look great!

Super great experience! The office staff is very kind and patient and the dental assistants have been very patient and helpful. I don't dread dental appointments anymore!

I was new to the area and went here. i have never left a poor review. Im sure this place is great however i was told i would have a free exam and i knew i had a good amount of work to do. AT the end they asked if i wanted to take one more xray that would be covered. I agreed and later found out they wanted money for that xray. On top of that i had a good amount of work to do but they would not do anything unless i started with the most expensive one. i felt like i was the customer i should be able to pick to do something that i wanted to get done first. Im sure this is a great company. Just rubbed me the wrong way.

Smile savers has been my dentist for many years now! I love the Hospitality. I love how my teeth are there #1 priority. I travel from New York just to see them.!
