I am always afraid to go to the dentist because I know that I am likely going to need to get work done. I was judged at the last dentist I went to but Smiles by the Sea were so nice and nonjudgmental! I’ve never felt so comfortable at a dental office before and I am so glad that I found them. I have been with Smiles by the sea for about 5 years. Sue does a great cleaning and is always pleasant. All the staff are excellent, and easy to work with. Reminders about appoints are great! On several occasions I needed prompt attention and was able be seen in short order! Dr. Shevchenko is very professional, I consider her to be the best general dentist I have ever seen. She is friendly, personable, and always puts me at ease during procedures. Smiles By the Sea also employs state of the art equipment utilizing the latest technologies. To the reader, it was the reviews that brought me Smiles by the Sea, also this is my first public review. I generally don't have anxiety problems however the dentist is a whole different story for me, so much so I haven't seen a dentist in roughly 20 years. I will now go to dentist twice a year as recommended.
I had to be seen for to a filling falling out on Tuesday afternoon, I called this office. From the moment I started speaking with someone my experience was absolutely pleasant. I was scheduled for 8am next day, usually this is when I start experiencing the anxiety. Arriving promptly at 8 feeling apprehensive, I checked in with ladies at desk and took a seat. There was a friendly older gentleman who engaged me in thoughtful conversation and before I knew it Miss. Sue was calling my name. Sue was super friendly and understanding. I spent the next 45 minutes or so in her care, where step by step she worked her magic. She moved with a sense of urgency and was very efficient, I needed a whole work up, like I said it had been 20+ years. In fact it was my out processing dental appointment from when I separated from the military so there's no records to refer back to meaning all new images and full exam. All too often we are faced with folks that have been doing the job they're in for too long and they're burnt out or complacent or both. I'm certain that Sue said 39 years she's been doing this work, but yet she's still passionate. I'm a 40+ year old man, that seems to turn into a blubbering child at the dentist. The Dr came in while Sue was finishing up and wow she was also fantastic, down to earth, friendly and also understanding to my "issue" with dentist. Dr had me come back at 1 to fix temporarily seal my tooth until I can crown it. Sorry for super long review but all in all I can't say enough good about all the folks I encountered here at Smiles by the Sea and I'm terrible with names but all the ladies I delt with from the two young ladies at front desk, two ladies that worked on me and the Dr were all fantastic and I will be using this office for future visits....
