After not visiting a dentist for quite a while and being very cavity-prone, I needed a LOT of work done by the time I made it to Dr. Barkley's office. Although I literally cried in the office when he gave me initial estimates for all I needed done, over the course of about a year he and his staff worked with me to complete the treatment plan, including many fillings and several root canals and crowns. Every interaction I had with Dr. B and his staff was positive and they appear to genuinely care about their patients, ensuring I felt comfortable, calm, and well-informed during all the procedures. A shout out of gratitude to Linda, Anna, Annie, Wilma, and Dr. B himself!

I was told by Dr. Barkley that I had a cavity and to schedule it to be drilled (around $400). When I had a second opinion, because I've never had a cavity, I come to find out it was a stain. Even my hygienist back home was able to identify this...
I received bills for 3 different amounts, of course each more expensive than the last. I was told my insurance would cover 80%, it covered about 30%. Then the staff denies responsibility, that they only estimate the coverage. I'd believe that, if the woman who is in charge of billing/'accounting didn't have a lengthy email conversation with me about being in touch with my insurance provider and confirmed they would cover 80%.
During my entire cleaning/exam (which took 2.5 hours+) my hygienist kept saying things like "we got a problem here; something isn't right; we have something going on here." Not very comforting in the least.

Will not be going back, have told many of my friends interested in dentists in the area to stay away.

I had a tooth emergency and within 2 hours of my initial phone call Dr. Barkley had removed the tooth. From the time I walked in till the time I left all the staff at High Country treated me great and I could sense a genuine concern about my issue. They even gave me a call two days later to check on how I was healing. Please do not hesitate to visit High Country Dentistry with your dental needs!!!

I previously gave HCD a good rating after my first appointment for an exam and cleaning. But my experience this week requires me to update this review. Despite asking for nitrous oxide while Dr. Barkley was trying to locate the source of pain on the left side of my mouth, I was told there wasn't time for that and he proceeded to inject me and go on with his examination without granting my request. When his dental assistant commented that after the injection ''it wouldn't hurt", it became readily apparent that she does not understand much about the nature of dental phobias. They have little to do with fear of pain and everything to do with anxiety and stress over the sounds and smells of a dental office.

In any event, I am regrettably going to change dentists as the lack of empathy and understanding of dental phobias is not a good fit for me;

I am not a big fan of the dentist in general, but High Country Dentistry always makes me feel very comfortable about the whole experience. They are kind, professional, and gentle. Highly reccommend, I have very much enjoyed my experience at High Country Dentistry.

Of all the years (decades) of dentist visits, I have to say this was the fastest visit I have EVER had in the cleanest and very friendly office. Thank you. See you again soon!

Great experience! Staff was friendly and very helpful. Has an emergency while in Boone and they worked me in quickly.! Would highly recommend!!!

Great job as always! The staff is very friendly and do a wonderful job. Even with my new dental orthodontic work, they were able to leave me feeling clean and healthy and offered great tips to maintain my oral health.
