RESPONSE TO RESPONSE FROM OWNER:
I called Dr. Munawar by name for the procedures she perfomed/advised on. I am perfectly capable of identifying a person in such close proximity to me as to be working in my mouth. The dentists who performed the extraction and alleged bone graft were there under the authority of Dr. Munawar. Why else would they be there--to help out the dentist who is retiring or the dentist who is purchasing the practice? But let's say I imagined it all or my timeline is fuzzy. That doesn't account for my husband having 6 imaginary cavities within 6 months of his last exam and the need for $2,178 worth of dental work. Per your phone call a few moments ago, "some dentists are more lenient than others" regarding the treatment of cavities. I can't take that statement seriously at all. If there's tooth decay no credible dentist is going to tell a patient to just ignore it. By the same token, no credible dentist is going to drill holes into a person unless there's an actual need to do so for the health of the tooth.
Under new ownership. Beautiful renovations. Friendly staff. Dr. Munawar has a gentle manner. However, it's all a COMPLETE SCAM. RUN!!! If you've already been there, go get a second opinion. Do not let these people violate your body. I went in December of 2017 to have a tooth extracted which is relatively simple but somehow turned into a complete debacle in which the crown was knocked off of the nearest tooth and I ended up leaving with an incomplete extraction. Mistakes happen and procedures can turn out to be more difficult than initially projected. I get that. So I actually returned to these people to have the extraction completed (by a different dentist). The tooth extraction was quickly and successfully completed. Additionally a bone graft was (allegedly) done so that I would have the option of getting an implant to replace the extracted tooth at a later time. I say allegedly because in retrospect, a bone graft, which is major surgery, should take more than 20-ish minutes. Also, I have since returned to my regular dentist (who costs more but is ethical and worth it) and my current xrays show no evidence of a bone graft/restored bone. During this process I was told that they would re-cement my knocked off crown when reduction of bleeding and inflammation would allow for it. In January, I returned to for a cleaning and was told that I needed to have two fillings but the crown could not be re-cemented due to decay and a root canal or possible extraction was prescribed instead. Again, in retrospect I should not have let them perform the fillings. My regular dentist, with whom I'd had a 6 year history at that point, had never expressed the slightest concern about the teeth Dr. Munawar filled. I had almost resigned myself to needing thousands of dollars of dental work done. But with zero expectation of getting my dental issues resolved without spending a fortune, I returned to my old dentist for a simple cleaning. I found out that all I needed was to have superficial decay sanded down and a new crown. I had also resigned myself to the fact that some people are just dishonest and had no intention of writing this review. However, Dr. Munawar told my husband that he needed 6 fillings after having stellar xrays at his last cleaning six months prior (when Oak Cliff dental was owned by another dentist). My husband and I decided that he should get a second opinion from my regular dentist considering all that had happened to me. He just returned this morning from his consultation and doesn't need one filling, let alone six. I went to this office when it was owned by a now retired dentist because that person was ethical, caring and what I could afford at the time. I'm publishing my personal business here because, one, I'm pissed and, two, I hope I can save someone the stress and panic I've experienced in the last 8 months. A pretty facade and renovations does not equal credibility. GET A SECOND OPINION before letting a dentist you don't have a relationship with perform even minor procedures in your mouth.

For "General Dentistry" work, I found this to be a professional and caring environment, offering thorough recommendations. They work with you, and listen, and are open to dialogue. As with anything it's important for the Consumer to communicate, ask questions, and further due diligence to discern and ultimately decide what one feels is the best direction to follow.
