Had a very good experience at Abbeville. Initially I had to have a root canal and crown but the day of the procedure the dentist decided I didn't need the root canal, just the crown. I appreciated his honesty and that he didn't go ahead and do the root canal anyway. He suggested this in my best interest and it saved me some cash.

Several times I have had an appointment and still had to wait well over an hour. I also had automatic payments set up for my braces and then one day they told me they hadn't been billing me for the last six months and they had to receive the payment that day. Why did they never say anything the other 12 times I had been in?? I had lost a bracket recently on a very back molar and was told they couldn't get me in for several days, I went back in as soon as I could after work to at least get the wire trimmed since there was about an inch sticking out the back and it was tearing up my cheek. I was told they wouldn't be able to do anything until my appointment two days later. Also, they stop seeing patients at 3:30 pm and everyone except the receptionist was gone. Very inconvenient hours also. They don't take patients until after 8:30, then no appointments between 11 and 1, and they stop at 3:30. They are also closed Tuesdays I was told. So can't go first thing in the morning, can't go anytime even close to lunch, and can't go towards the end of the work day. I have had so many issues in just one year and it is ridiculous. They also keep changing their hours without telling patients, which has happened on several occasions. I would not recommend this place.

The staff is extremely friendly. They patient and polite. They also offer a dental plan which is similar to dental insurance you pay once a year. For someone with no dental insurance this a great option for me and my family.

Everyone is so professional! Dr. Shar remembers our names the second she sees me even if it is months later even if it is just me in the office! I refuse to go anywhere else!

On April 17 2014 we visited Abbeville Dentistry to have my daughters braces removed and be fitted for a retainer as well as a check up appointment for my other daughter. On this day we were told we owed $1,500.00 even though when I asked prior visits what was our remaining balance was and I proceeded to pay in full. Now on this day we were asked to pay the $1,500.00 I proceeded to tell the billing person that please look into detail because that figure was incorrect. So as they called my daughter that needed a check up to the back as my other daughter was waiting in the waiting area the billing specialists said the $1,500.00 was incorrect that it is $689.00 now mind you I asked for an account breakdown so I can see the evidence of what is actually owed she came back with a post it note. I agreed to pay the $689.00 just so my daughter can get her braces removed. After the visit I finally received a copy of our account and came to find out that I was actually owed $770.00. We are still getting this process situated which will take time. After a week with a retainer my daughter dropped it on the floor and began washing it with hot water and the retainer no longer fit. So we scheduled an appointment for replacement which we were told we would not pay anything due to the fact that we were not told how to properly take care of the retainer and that the retainer should have not done that (which I too find odd). On April 24th we went to our visit which was now having to be done in Midland, TX at a different location. Upon showing one of the dentists assistants what happened she asked if we left the retainer in a car or in the heat because it should have not done that we responded no and explained the story she said " Well it should have not done that so we will have to charge you for it." I told her what we were previously told and she said she would have to ask the dentist. Not to long after that she called us back there she said that they will have to charge us for one and I said ok but to take it out of the money that was owed to us. She said I would have to talk to the billing person which I agreed to do. When she walked us to the billing person she told the person that we left it in the car and that we needed to pay the $60.00 I said no we did not leave it in the car we never said we left it in the car and she called us a liar in front of all the patients. I turned to the billing person and said we would like the $60.00 taken out of the money we are owed and the billing person said we will have to pay the $60.00 up front because they are not the same people and she was considered a new patient after I noticed this was going no where and filling ambushed I told the billing person that I am done with this conversation because it was not getting anywhere and it was already embarrassing for me and my daughter to be called liars in front of people that are a mix of staff and patients. So the only other option I can see to keep everyone calm we might have to take legal action for miscommunication on Abbeville Dentistry and the people in Midland, TX. On my way out the billing person said "DO IT" in a threatening way. I have never been so embarrassed. I was shocked on how unprofessional this staff acted. It is not a matter of paying $60.00 or even $1,500.00 it is a matter of professionalism and holding people accountable for their actions. After all we are customers and to be treated like this was shocking and considered deformation of character and my daughters character even when we told the truth around witnesses. We have never had trouble with this dentist assistant but something was really bothering her for her to be rude when we first told the truth and then for her to turn around and call us liars. In my company if someone acted in this manner they would not be working for us anymore. I would also understand if I was the aggressor or instigator then I can see someone perhaps slipping out of the professionalism pocket but when we tried to be as level headed and explain the situation to be humiliated like that was horrible.

I only went in to have my permanent retainer recemented after it came off after several years. I thought this would be a simple in and out thing. Then they wanted me to have my teeth cleaned. My teeth were clean and fine prior, but sure why not. Verified my insurance, only had a small copay for the fluoride treatment. Everyone was very nice and patient as I was thrown into their already full schedule. The hygienist was funny and pleasant. Finally get in the chair to have my retainer cemented back in and the dentist puts it in lopsided. Literally. One side was at the top of one tooth, the other side was at the bottom of the other tooth. Crooked. And sharp edges on both cemented ends. I told her it was crooked and she acted like, "Well, it's in. What do you want me to do?" I had been there for 3 hours already and just wanted to get out of there. Maybe go to someone else to fix it? Thankfully the receptionist knew that something was wrong when I went to checkout and asked how everything went. With near tears in my eyes, I explained that it was crooked and showed her. She agreed and went to the back and they brought me back again, removed and recemented it in and it was much better the second time around. I was disappointed with the dentist; it should've been done right the first time or at least fixed it without having to be asked, especially when I initially told her that she had put it in lopsided/crooked. Finally left 3-1/2 hours later.

2 stars for the dentist, 5 stars for the staff.

UPDATE: Not even a whole 2 weeks later and my permanent retainer has already popped out. What a waste of my time and money! I would never go here again for any dental needs. Good grief.

They were able to get me in the same day and adequately take care of my issue. They broke down the cost for me so that I could see how much I would owe and how much my insurance would cover.
