As a child terrified from experiences with a former dentist, I was taken to Dr. Lakas. Now as an adult, I hate my mouth/teeth to be touched by anyone else! He is a gentle, kind, excellent, dentist who takes the time necessary. I can only pray he will never retire.

For a lifetime growing up in Arlington, my family knew the former founding dentists (Drs William and Elizabeth Powell). When the time came to for the Powell era to end, Dr Lakas advanced into the lead of the practice. I am not and have not been terrified by dental visits. Yet it is still a leap of faith to change the person who gets in your mouth!
I have found Dr Lakas to be everything the previous reviewers have stated and more. We do not socialize but I consider him a friend after such a long time.
Dr Lakas is genuinely interested in your overall health. Many researchers and medical papers can attest that the health of your teeth are a reflection of your overall health. Not a specific diagnostic for all conditions but nonetheless, an important clue.
Dr Shaefer is wonderful, as well. My husband and three adult "children" all like and trust her. And, she is a NATS Fan Extrodinaire.
