Great office with extremely friendly staff. They take the time to get to know their patients and what is important to them, and are very thorough with examinations and care. I love this place. My wife and I moved to Alaska 3 years ago leaving my family dentist behind that I had know since I was a teenager. Having moved up here we tried many different well known and referred dentists in Anchorage and all have fallen way short of our expectations and overall trust in their practices. Many of them have tried to upsell us on cavities and rootcanals we did not need. Thank God I had a chance to refer back to my old dentist before proceding through with their work.
Those awful trial error all stopped when we found Heathy Smiles Dental with Dr. Preece. His office is warm and welcoming. His staff is kind and pleasent and goes above and beyond their duties to take care of their patients. They even watched and played with my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son while my wife was being seen.
Dr. Preece is kind and gentle while working in your mouth. He is thorough in his work and explains what he is doing and seeing while working. You can tell he is passionate about his profession and if thats not enough. They have chairs that meassage you while you're being worked on to help people like me with bad backs.
I would highly recommend coming in and checking out Healthy Smiles Dental. I am not an easy person to please by any means, but the staff and Dr. PREECE have gained my trust, respect and business for as long as I am in need of Dental work and in Anchorage.... and I love candy so I expect to see them quite often. Lol

Dr. Preece and then Leslie was my hygienist; what a wonderful experience! I felt welcomed and appreciated to be their customer/patient. Thorough, but gentle. They utilize an easy reminder system and technology for registration (for me, email and text) to make it nearly impossible to forget you have an appointment (appreciated). I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Preece and Healthy Smiles Dental for anyone's dental needs.

Great family dental group. Our family of four has been a loyal client for over 4 years. We always get just the right care, options for treatments, and never feel rushed or forced into getting stuff done. Though it isn't explicitly named a 'Pediatric' or 'Kids' dentistry, they are very kid friendly. Both of our kiddos enjoy being in the chair with Dr. Preece, our youngest just as soon as she could walk, just to get the feel for it.

They also do an excellent job of maximizing health/dental insurance coverage through experience and scheduling. And most importantly (to me) never has a hygienist, or Dr. Preece himself, butchered my gums while flossing me at Healthy Smiles Dental! And I thank you for that!

The whole staff at Healthy Smiles Dental is always welcoming, helpful and very professional with me and my family, we are seeing right away and communicate with us while at our appointment to make sure we’re confortable.

I really debated posting my experience here, but it was just horrible and upsetting. Basically, they can’t do a simple cavity filling without inflicting pain and they don’t know how to do accounting. The details are below if you care to know more.

In my first visit (Feb 2021), I had x-rays and a consultation, to which they found a cavity that needed to be filled. I had that cavity filled by Dr.Preece and for the next two days my new cavity was in excruciating pain to where I couldn’t open my mouth, this is not my first cavity. I paid the full co-pay amount they told me at that time for the x-rays and for the white filling. All I wanted was a teeth cleaning, but needed the consultation first. So a month or so later I come in to get my teeth cleaned by a different person, which came out good. I chose to go elsewhere to get a tooth removed come to find out the filling for that tooth that Dr.Preece completed was already broken (Jan 2022). That’s right that meant I had to pay again to get it redone by someone else. Now, Jan 2022 I get a notice in the mail saying I owe them money, which is suspicious because it’s almost a year later. I was told it was because my insurance co-pay was actually a higher amount. So I asked for an explanation and paid the remaining balance because I no longer had that insurance and could not confirm this statement. Dr. Preece’s office said they sent multiple MAIL notices, but I didn’t recieve anything until Jan, they could have easily given me a call, or sent me an email (I sure did get their Christmas email). Then after paying that amount a YEAR later I get another notice in the mail saying I still owe money, again I went in and they said they didn’t get their numbers right AGAIN!

Dr. Preece runs a fantastic practice. Being new to AK it can be difficult to find the healthcare providers that you are happy with. I can say this was the easiest search to find quality, kind and professional dental care. The entire staff has earned my family’s business.

Dr. Preece was so down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and took a genuine interest in his patient's dental health. There's a reason all of his reviews are 5-star! From start to finish, he made me feel at ease, taking the time to ask pertinent questions and elaborate upon dentistry topics I was curious about. I never felt rushed or like an inconvenience (even though my appointment was over the lunch hour!) The dental assistants and receptionist were all very kind and welcoming also. Being new to Anchorage, I feel like I lucked out finding this dental office.
