In a few words, Dr. Fong and his team is fantastic. Of all the dentistries I have seen in the peninsula, it is one of the best run clinics which not only takes honest/good care of the patients but also is very efficient and pleasing to deal with.

Dr. Fong and his staff are simply excellent: professional, courteous, and attentive. Before I came in, I was given an estimate for the cost of dental work, given my insurance, which I really appreciated. My initial visit was a comprehensive exam, a majority of which was conducted by Dr. Fong himself. First, however, a dental assistant took about 20 different x-rays of my mouth (which gives an indication of just how thorough they are!)
When Dr. Fong came in, I assumed he would just be quickly looking at my mouth and giving some instructions to the assistant, before departing (as has been my experience with past dentists). Not so. He spent at least half an hour looking at my teeth, taking measurements of my gums, and going over a course of action he thought would be best for me (I had one cavity, as well as a fixed bonded retainer we decided to remove). He talked about how he really emphasizes gum health, as this is the foundation and basis for healthy teeth. One of the things I liked the most was how he seemed to individualize the treatment for the patient-- he pointed out that everyone's mouth is different, and so everyone's care of their mouth will be different, and that his main goal was to find a method of treatment care and prevention that would be both effective and reasonable for the patient to follow (I mean, flossing 5 times a day is great and all, but would anyone actually do that if those were the instructions?).
I was pleased to be able to book an appointment the following day, both to take care of my cavity and to remove the in-line retainer. These were done by Dr. Fong, and he again displayed exceptional care and attention in both procedures. I was also lucky enough to be able to get a cleaning done at the same time.
In short, this was one of the best dentist appointments I have ever experienced, and Dr. Fong is the most attentive dentist I have ever had (and everyone else there-- from the people who check you in to the dental assistants-- are very professional and courteous). The one thing that I would recommend would be to try and schedule a cleaning at the same time as the initial comprehensive exam. The advantage of this is if you first only go in for a comprehensive exam, you will then have to book another appointment (and come back again) for a cleaning. But I think you can arrange for both to be done together, if you request it when scheduling your appointment.

Dr. Brian Fong is the best. He always explains what is going on with my teeth and gives me pros and cons to any treatment. Instead of pushing treatment, he includes me in the decision. Additionally he’s always on the cutting edge of technology. I recently needed a mouthguard and he was able to take a 3-D rendering of my teeth, print out a mold in office and make the mouthguard right there. No more sending it off to a lab and waiting weeks for it to come back! He also filled one of my cavities with a laser versus a traditional drill. It was painless, quick and the best part was NO NOVOCAINE needed. Incredible.
