Amy was great! I had a great experience with her. Her work was quick and pain free but also thorough. She is an excellent dentist, and I have had many bad experiences in the past with other dentists so I am very relieved to have found her!! - highly recommend.

Dr. Au is amazing! I was in a terrible bicycle accident where I broke my jaw and lost 9 of my frontmost teeth. Dr. Au not only made me a set of beautiful permanent teeth, she also coordinated with 3 other surgeons and doctors to create an entire treatment plan for me. If you are her patient she will go above and beyond to get you the care that will be best for you. She is an incredible Doctor and an incredible person. Thank you, Dr. Au!!

I had challenging dental issues & was referred to Berkeley Prosthodontics by a dentist friend from out of the area ~14 years ago. It has been the best choice ever for crowns, implants, & general dentistry. Dr. Amy Au and her team have been fabulous, and extremely knowledgeable & skillful, saving my teeth. I am grateful to them forever.

I came to Berkeley Prosthodontics after a subpar experience with a different office. From my first appointment, I have been impressed with Dr. Au. She's kind and highly knowledgeable. I trust her explicitly and know that every visit will be pleasant, from check in through to check out. Everyone I have met at her office is awesome!

My 83-year-old mother needed dentures, and as expected, she was very nervous about the whole experience and the results. She wanted her teeth to look youthful and natural. Berkeley Prosthodontics was highly recommended to us by the doctor who had performed a surgical procedure to prepare for the dentures. We followed the recommendation, and it was the right decision. Right from the beginning, it was evident that Dr. Au was the right specialist for the job. She put my mother at ease and gave her the confidence that the results will be good. My mother's use of the English language is about 20%, which adds a layer of difficulty because communication is a critical part of building a denture as it becomes a long-term super essential accessory to someone's body. I was impressed by how Dr. Au was able to jump over that hurdle. The whole process went smoothly, considering that there were delays due to the pandemic. When operations resumed, it took two appointments to create the wax model of the denture, and after a few measurements, modifications, and adjustments, my mother had the teeth she was hoping for. The third appointment was the final and the most important one because how the denture feels in the mouth is as critical as how they look. The results were terrific! Her new teeth look great, and she claims that she does not even feel the denture in her mouth. One happy customer!. That was an excellent experience for both my mother and I. I took the time to write this review because everyone who worked at that office and was involved in the process was kind, friendly, and professional. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Au and the hygienist are just fantastic! Dr. Au is the kindest, gentlest, prosthodontist! I love that her specialized training in crowns comes into play figuring out how to quarter back between my implant, crown, and braces. I enjoyed the steps for COVID safety in the office when I got my cleaning. Also adore that Ms. Marilyn has been with the office forever and seems to remember me like I come in every week when I come in! I recommend this office without hesitation.

I am a full-time student, and my finances are very limited. However, I strongly value my health, and I use my limited financial resources to take care of my body, as I understand that it is an investment in my future.
I had been a patient of this practice since December 2019, at which time I was a patient of Dr. Curtis, who was an in-network provider. When she retired, I became Dr. Amy Au's patient. At no time was I explicitly told by Dr. Au or any member of her staff that she did not take my insurance. It is only after close inspection that I see now that she had Replied All to an e-mail sent to me by Dr. Curtis in August 2020 (that had the wildly deceiving subject line of "Happy Saturday from Berkeley Prosthodontics Dental Office"), where she mentioned that she was "out-in-network". I can agree, she did not withhold this information entirely, but this is a far cry from transparency. This tactic of communicating such an impactful aspect of my healthcare was sneaky, at best. Rather than communicating the very real financial implications of this switch to her patients over the phone or in-person at any time to make certain their understanding, she chose not to, I presume, hoping that people like me would not read carefully enough to know the truth.
Further, at our appointment in January 2022, I had mentioned to her that my finances were extremely restricted, and that this would only become more of an issue in the coming months. (Again, this would have been an excellent time to talk to me about how she was an out-of-network provider and I was paying much more for services than I would with an in-network provider, but she did not.) I told her that if there was any dental work she could foresee me needing in the next 3-5 years, I would like to get it taken care of at that time. She told me there was nothing she was watching and that she did not anticipate I would need anything beyond a routine cleaning for the next 3-5 years. However, when I came in for my cleaning last week, she told me that she had been watching two fillings for some time, and that she would like to now have them redone. While I understand that circumstances change, the way she spoke of the issue seemed to suggest that these were issues she had known about and had been tracking, which was exactly what she had told me was NOT the case, just 6 months before. Why she was not originally forthright is unclear to me.
When I spoke to Marilyn on the phone about these concerns, she notified me that I have been making all of my payments for the past few years, as if that was justification for me knowing about the practice's out-of-network status. It is true. I have diligently paid for my dental services, and always on time. I have fully held up my end of the commitment. Unfortunately, I was not aware of the terms of that commitment because they were not made clear to me beyond a single sentence in an e-mail that wasn't even originally from Dr. Amy Au.
I would expect more integrity from my medical providers, and I will be seeking services elsewhere.

I was visiting family in Berkeley when the crown of my dental implant came loose. Dr. Au was able to see me quickly and expertly fixed the problem. She and her staff were kind, knowledgeable, and skilled. If I lived in Berkeley I would certainly be sure to visit Dr. Au’s office whenever I needed dental services.
