Dr. Smith truly saved me! I was on vacation in Pagosa Springs over Christmas break and developed a terrible toothache. Without calling, I walked to his office which closes at 5:00. It was 5:00 and the door was locked. I knocked because the lights were on and I was desperate. He answered the door and after learning about my pain, let me in and examined my tooth and took X-rays. I had an infection and slight fracture in one tooth. This man went far above and beyond for someone who isn’t even his patient. I don’t know what I would have done if he didn’t open his door to me. I had a 12 hour drive the next day. I’m blown away by his commitment and service!

Visiting from out-of-town and was having tooth pain. This facility was able to see me promptly and Dr. Stephanie accurately diagnosed my problem. After a minor adjustment to an existing crown I was on my way...VERY pleased with the entire experience. If you coming to Pagosa from a major city anywhere else you can have confidence in this establishment!

I went to get some cavities filled (which Dr. Smith had done a couple of years in the past no problem) but this time he refused to fill the cavities unless we took a bunch of X-rays and re-evaluated some teeth that had already been evaluated by two other dentists (they did not agree with his call to remove the tooth). I refused the x-rays and the unnecessary evaluation. He kept asking why I was there. I kept telling him to get my cavities filled. He refused to do so and said I should see a dentist who is more aligned with what I want to do. Saying that this is not how they do things here. My translation: Unless you are willing to let them run up the bill, they do not want your business.
Oh yeah - go ahead and claim I'm was not a patient of yours.
UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE FROM OWNER
I just checked the Colorado dental board laws and I see nothing that applies to this situation, and no reference to "standard of care" at all. Very disingenuous of you to try and quote unknown laws to justify your actions. I called another dentist after you refused service and explained what happened. Specifically asking if they had any requirements like yours. They do not.
Also, I don't think you know what beleaguered means.
