My experience with both Dr Smith and Dr Bassin was excellent. Ree and the office staff are very friendly and welcoming, I felt comfortable in their care immediately. Highly recommended.

As usual, I had a very good experience at San Juan Dental. This is a truly professional establishment, and I appreciate that they do not try to convince customers to commit to procedures that they might not need.

San Juan Dental was wonderful. Great customer service. They saved me from getting unneeded crowns that another dentist said were needed! Love that they don’t try to over sell services that are not needed.

I’m new to Pagosa Springs and had to find a Dentist during Covid. Love it here. Dentist and Hygienist are awesome. Great teeth cleaning too.

My husband and I both have been seeing Dr. Eric Smith of San Juan Dental in Pagosa Springs, CO. and highly recommend him. Dr. Smith offers a great dental plan--Pagosa Plan-- for his patients, so if you are without dental insurance, you can also save some bucks (10% discount) on any work you need to have done and get two cleanings and complete exams, an emergency exam, and all x-rays as well. Ask for details on this great plan.

Aside from some fillings, Dr. Smith performed an extraction and an extremely complicated implant on my husband.

Today Dr. Smith surgically extracted a compromised molar for me--one that had a root with the dreaded hook. He did this complicated extraction in little more than 15 minutes, and I only had a local anesthetic. It's now 10 hours later, and I am so pleased with the results. I only had one Ibuprofen (800mg) upon leaving the office and still am not experiencing any pain. I could hardly believe when he said it was completely out.

Dr. Smith is an excellent, skilled dentist. I checked prices with the oral surgeon in Durango who estimated $3500 for this procedure with general anesthesia and a bone graft (neither of which was necessary) and in Santa Fe the estimate was around $1500. Dr. Smith charged a mere fraction of these amounts for the procedure. Need I say that I couldn't be happier?

So, if you're in the vicinity of Pagosa Springs and looking for a dentist, do not hesitate to see the newest provider in our area. You'll be in good hands! And the truly service-oriented staff provides a friendly, family atmosphere. I doubt you'll be disappointed!

I have not heard from you, nor did I find a message from you. So based on my records you are lying. You have never tried to contact me or follow up on my care. You said that for people here. Your texts to me have been harsh, uncaring, un-sympathetic and only wanting more money. The opposite of what we see here, you are disingenuous to me. I take it extremely personal too every time I look at a photo, or the mirror. I hate negativity, and I have never written a negative review about anyone, but I hate feeling/being treated poorly and needed to speak out. I also think it will be difficult for me to speak to you at this point, you are like trauma.

My teeth are falling out, in the middle of travel, a vacation, a funeral, your response, "no big deal."

The story is below. Do not use this man for expensive care. Maybe he's great with small stuff, but do not put yourselves in his hands for the big stuff. I was told by another dentist, and though he hesitated, and stated, "I've never criticized another dentist, but I have to speak out on this, he continued to tell me,

"Your gut was right, IF THIS DENTIST WERE MY STUDENT I WOULD OF FAILED HIM with the work he did in your mouth" Exact words. He stated you used the CHEAPEST of CHEAP abutments on the market. Meanwhile all you could say was "I spent so much money" you spent $ on your major mistakes, and blamed that for no follow up, or care that mattered.

I spent thousands of dollars for unsatisfactory results. Smith talked me into a full upper replacement. Temporaries he put in broke twice in sensitive situations. (He laughed telling be about another patient who's teeth broke during her bday party.)

(The details:The first finals from the lab didn’t fit properly so he sent them back to the lab, and, they also looked horrible. The 1st set of upper replacement were much smaller than my originals and bent/angled to look like I was 90 years old. I was horrified looking in the mirror. I spoke extensively to him, and the lab to tell them what I did want and that this was nothing like my original teeth, even at their worst. They both assured me that would be an easy fix. The 2nd set looked and fit much better in my mouth, though looking at the photos, they had a much “faker” appearance, meaning the texture looked like a fake denture, compared to the 90 year old looking ones, the opposite extreme of the first. The 2nd set also didn’t fit correctly in my mouth so with that he sent the 2nd set back to the lab as well. I was assured he get it right on the 3rd. (The 2nd set were the correct size, he just needed to fix something else-physical.)

On the 3rd try he/lab finally got a set that fit properly and he was so happy he didn’t even show them to me before I left the office. Looking back I should of made sure that happened. When I got home I was horrified to find teeth that were now slanted, too small (my uppers are now smaller than my lowers) and one FRONT tooth has gray matter looking part dead. When I tried to reach him right away he ignored me. He ignored me for over 2 months finally stating I could pay more $ if I wanted them done again. He only complained about how much $ he was spending and did not return my phone call or texts. I phoned no less than 5 other dentist in Colorado who thought he acted un-ethically, and how they had done multiple sets (5) with their clients until BOTH dentist and patient were happy. THIS dentist did not care nor did he understand my most basic request I stated from the beginning. He should be banned from these procedures and I will notify authorities of DORA. I did call an attorney and they were extremely empathetic and made this suggestion,that I should ask for half my $ back, but I know he's too cheap and uncaring towards me to reach out, bc he hasn't, except in this review. Disingenuous.

Woke up with horrible pain! Called MANY dentists in the area.. This wonderful dentist came in on his day off (a Saturday) and gave me and emergency root canal! Immediate relief. I will continue to recommend anyone to this office. It was a very happy, homey feel with great service!
