Kahului Dental: Dr. Baxter & Dr. Momberg

I had an amazing morning with Dr. Baxter and his wonderful staff.
I had a tooth that broke and the last 2 nights of no sleep and pain were just horrible. I called his office and they got me in next day. First thing at 8AM Dr. Baxter was talking to me and giving me all the options and the cost for each of them. He has the kindest bedside manner and makes you feel very special. His staff is just as great as he is. I chose to take the tooth out and after the numbing he pulled the tooth and gave me the instructions for after care. Prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medication for a few days and was already feeling better. 6 hours later and I have minimal pain and the nerve pain is gone. Please give yourself a treat and go see Dr. Baxter. You really will enjoy it. Thanks Doc and staff. I will be back for all the other issues I have. You're the best.

How exciting is it to go to the dentist? Honestly, I used to get nervous before going in but that all changed after visiting Dr. Baxter and his crew. They were all so great.

We were checked in quickly and the wait time was very minimal. Both my daughter and I were seen at the same time which was really nice on a busy day. My hygienists was so great--very friendly, but then when it came down to cleaning, she was quiet and let me close my eyes and relax. Another really great thing: the view. It faces the parking lot, but when you're laying on the chair, you're pointed up at the warm blue Maui sky. That was nice and calming. I could hear my daughter's hygienist next door and she was so kind and gentle with her.

Dr. Baxter came through to do post-cleaning check and it was like having coffee with an old friend. He's so friendly and genuine. He wants to make sure you're truly satisfied with your dental experience.

My husband needed advice on a dental situation so he called Dr. B after hours and it was awesome to have a doc listen and have good advice! He was able to squeeze him in the next day as well. We were so thankful!

I really can't say enough good things about this place. We are very happy about the switch to Dr. Baxter's dental office. They are the BEST!

Crown fell off on a cruise, showed up right when they opened, let me in just like that. Kindest humans. Mahalo!

If you're here on vacation and need a dentist this is the dentist you need to see. I learned of Dr. Baxter from my neighbor and had routine cleanings done and a new crown installed. He is great at helping you when you need help quick! He was also very accommodating in accepting my dental health plan which is based in Ohio. If you're new to the island and need a dentist call them as well! He is a great person!

About two years ago, I was told these guys were the best. Called and they weren’t accepting new patients. Bummed, I wrote a review telling people they weren’t accepting anyone new. They reached out, I asked to be on a wait list, then I changed my review to reflect that they tried to make it right. fast forward another year and a half, I go into a trigeminal nerve freak out and am in and out of ER thinking I need all of my teeth pulled out. I contacted them in a panic, and they black balled me. I found this out because I called about having a filling replaced there today and the woman said I was flagged. I guess I’m a problem patient (even though they’ve never seen me)? I have really bad phobia and was told these were the docs to see. I would have been loyal (albeit teary eyed), and would have paid in full at the end of any and all appointments (just like my fiancé, who is a patient there lol?). I tried probably harder than anyone on this island to become a patient here. And now I’m done.

I had a dental filling replaced on the back upper side on Feb 26, 2018. My older filling to be replaced was your more traditional metal amalgam dental filling. My mistake was that I naturally assumed that the dentist would replace my old metal amalgam filling with the same type. Metal amalgam fillings are stronger, more durable and less expensive. Teeth must withstand extreme forces that result from chewing such as in the back of the mouth. It was not until after the procedure and I was paying, that the front office informed me that the dentist used a resin based composite filling instead of amalgam metal. As a result, my cost was higher. However, it was not the higher cost that bothers me. I was extremely disappointed because the dentist should have immediately informed me that she was replacing my metal amalgam filling with a resin based filling. Had I been properly informed, I would have elected not to go the resin based route and would have changed dentists. I prefer the use of metal amalgam fillings given that the tooth was located in the front rear thus requiring a more tougher material. The front office went on to say that Dr. Baxter does not use metal amalgam fillings for the safety of their patients. Again, I was not properly informed or given a choice. I do see that on the Dr. Baxter website that they only use resin based fillings but again, I had not used their website and the Dentist should have personally informed me prior to performing the procedure. My wife and I are now going to change dentists. I will say that Dr. Baxter is a cool guy and their staff is friendly. I do recommend that their staff communicate better with their patients. Therefore, only "two stars" for you.

I met Dr. Baxter as an emergency client. One late Saturday night when no other dentist was available. Him and his staff was very caring, comforting and compassionate towards me. I felt no pain during the procedure. It was done quickly and professionally. I would recommend Kahului Dental to my family and friends.

Love Dr. Baxter, he always welcomes you and helps you with your dentist issue. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and make you feel like one of your hand.

I was visiting Maui last week from Oregon over Mothers day when i got extreme Pain in my wisdom teeth. My dentist/boss Dr Berkner at home recommended me to Dr. Baxter . He was so willing to help me any time of the day even on Mothers Day which was a Sunday. I would Recommend him to anyone after how willing and helpful he was! Thanks again Dr. Baxter you are a life saver !

I have loved Dr. Baxter and staff they are always to energetic, kind, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately today we had Dr. Ho who was extremely rude and has no bedside manner. She rubbed me the wrong way assuming my child has a sugar diet and drinks soda daily and if my child even brushes her teeth. My child do have juice on occasion not daily and if they didn’t brush their teeth I’m pretty sure by now they’d all be falling out. To top it she tells my child be quiet while she is making tiny soft noises while her mouth is open. I will continue to go back because the other staff is fantastic. I will never see Dr. Ho at Kahului Dental again!
