If I could give a ZERO star I would and let me say that i never do reviews good or bad. I was so fed up and frustrated I feel the need to help someone else avoid the frustration.
We have 7 family members who have been coming to the Valpo location for over 10 years. I’ve ALWAYS had billing problems but more recently it’s worse since they hired a billing company to take over.
Received services that were not due, but told they were due. Then received a ridiculous large bill for a cleaning and X-rays that is supposedly covered 100% by insurance.
My son recently had his wisdom teeth removed and we paid what we were told would be the remaining balance but continue to get bills for a ridiculous amount. The billing company is a joke!!! Have went rounds with Chyna and Alleah (sp) at the billing office and ironically they both tell me the other no longer works there but have spoke to them both after being told they were no longer employed there.
The office manager is RUDE, CONDESCENDING, and disregards your questions and complaints.
We will NOT be returning to this dentist office and will also deter anyone I know from going there as well. Worst experience ever. Ended up paying the bills just to be done with the headaches of the billing.
Apparently, this review will not change the way they do business or treat people, but I’m hoping that someone will read it and not have to deal with this same headache.

Matthew Hearn made me feel like I was bothering him. Also acted as if I was making up my pain. He questioned every symptom I said I was experiencing as if I was making this up. Won’t be returning for surgery. Didn’t like his vibe during consult. Won’t recommend him to anyone.

This was my first experience with Family Dentistry and was pleased with the technician who took my xrays and the dental hygienist, Chasey and the dentist, Dr. Moll was charming and professional. The atmosphere is bustling and friendly. Made an appointment for my husband and for my next check up. Very happy with them so far.

Everyone from the front desk receptionist to the dental hygienist and Dr. Hernandez were so patient, kind and thorough! I appreciate thiis more than you know seeing as though I get anxiety being in a dental office. Everyone put me at ease. No one wasted anytime and was effective and efficient!

Will not be returning. Seen Dentist in AM To be referred to Oral Surgeon. They had me return in afternoon to see him. They both told me 2 different things and oral Surgeon acted like I was wasting his time. I don't live local and spent hours at this office with no answers. I will not be returning nor will my children. They basically wasted my time to make more money and then wanted me to make another appointment.

I have given a single star because I had to. The office staff are beyond rude, money-minded, and incompetent. They cannot do simple math for insurance purposes. They could not care less about patients. The whole attitude is commercial and confrontational. Very arrogant and entitled -- clearest sign that they have a monopoly. Some humility would help. Put your patients first. But for them, you would not have jobs!

Your standard response to bad reviews is "We are very disappointed to read your review. At Valparaiso Family Dentistry, it is our goal to provide excellent dental care coupled with great customer service to each patient. We invite you to call our office to further discuss your concerns."

This bland statement itself is a sign of neglect of patient concerns. It sounds like an auto-generated message! Instead, take CONCRETE steps to improve matters, then state what these are! Show your patients that you care -- by taking concrete steps -- especially in hiring and training your personnel. Put patients before money!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! If your using insurance they will never send over the correct information to approve the procedures that THEY SAY YOU NEED! I called 3 different times asking them to send the X-rays and information they had on file to my insurance because I was denied for that reason! They said they would take care of it and THEY DID NOT! Finally I was fed up and physical went to the office to give them the letter from my insurance stating that I needed my X-rays and information! I once again was told this would be taken care of it’s been over a week now and NOTHING WAS DONE AGAIN! All of this over the course of 2 MONTHS!
NEEDLESS TO SAY,
I MADE AN APPOINTMENT SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Today I had a consultation with I believe, Dr Adam. After X-rays, a very thorough explanation was given as to what needed to be done and what would serve me best.
A very pleasant experience with a very professional but also personable doctor!

Why even schedule an appointment when you will sit in a waiting room for an hour as if you have nothing else to do with your day? Nor will they even let you know they are running a bit behind and will be with you in a bit - they will just let you sit there with no knowledge of when you will be called back. This has happened over and over again and it will be the last visit I make. Also one of the techs is rude and unprofessional every single visit complaining how she “doesn’t want to do this because she wasn’t even in the room in the beginning so she doesn’t even know what’s happening” (how reassuring) then continues to make side comments for the remaining duration of the visit.

They were very polite helpful and fast. I was extremely nervous getting my wisdom teeth removed but I didn’t feel a thing and they were so nice …
