To start off the atmosphere is great, front desk ladies are very welcoming, my hygienist Abby was super nice and did a great job explaining everything she was going to do prior to my dental cleaning and Dr. Pogue was wonderful and super genuine during the entire exam! Would highly suggest this dental office !

Great office, great staff, great doctor, but disappointed in the end...:-(
The staff was very friendly, the office was top notch, and Dr. Pogue was on top of his game. We had a game plan in place for some serious work to be done. He sent his staff to run some estimates to maximize my insurance, and we were going to look to move forward quickly (at my choice).
Then the cogs came to a grinding halt. The estimates were well out of my price range. It's not that the pricing wasn't fair. It came down to the fact that the office and the doctor were OUT OF NETWORK with my insurance. Thus, benefits greatly reduced. The cost of what I needed to have done was now almost 200% more than what I had budgeted.
It was very disappointing, because his website said that he accepted this insurance, and even my insurance company listed him as an "in-network" provider, albeit at a different office. Recommendation to anyone? Call ahead and have them run your benefits first if you are looking at any costly dental work.
Unfortunately for me, I'm back to square one...dental anxiety and all. However, the office is not to blame.[END INITIAL REVIEW]
After the initial consult, Dr. Pogue himself got involved. He and his office staff got together and after numerous phone calls and e-mails (including plenty after "normal business hours", we developed a game plan that worked. My dental insurance just plain stinks. The "in-network" providers would not have provided anywhere near the level of care that his office has.
So, where am I now? Well, I thought I'd never trust a dentist to extract any of my teeth without full sedation. Dr. Pogue did. He did an excellent job at that. My lowers were removed New Year's Eve, and I was almost completely pain free within a week. My uppers were removed today (1/14/2020) and the dentures were placed. Advil and Tylenol have been my go-to for swelling and any discomfort. No significant pain.
What did he do for me in the end? Let me show you.
The picture on the left was me, circa 1997. At that point, I had already had 3 tooth abscesses that I couldn't afford to fix, but I could still smile. The center picture was just six months ago--I was too ashamed to smile with my teeth showing. The one on the right is my new smile. Of course, my upper lip is numb, but that will come back!
This is a long review, but the process itself is complicated. My point? If you need work done, and you care at all about your teeth, at least contact Dr. Pogue and his staff and see what they can do for you. Even at out-of-network, the value of the work provided vastly exceeded anything I would have received anywhere else. He's earned another trusted patient.

Honestly this place is great, super friendly and super kind. I was absolutely terrified if going. Needles, drills, the sound but they do what they can to alleviate the stress and anxiety of going to a dentist. Your needs are what they care about. Not forceful of pushing dental care. Go to them, plus they support The Office who couldnt love Pleasant Valley Dental!
