Gentle Dentistry - Edina Office

I switched to Gentle Dentistry because it was closer to my home. In addition to a shorter drive it was also a extremely pleasant experience. The people at Gentle are just plain awesome. Friendly. Helpful. Easy-going. And most of all they made me feel welcome. I am now moving my entire family to Gentle Dentistry.

I've been with Gentle Dentistry for years. Wouldn't change a thing. Great new clean offices, and dentists that when they're not there, they're out on a workshop/lecture/ seminars, learning new cutting edge skills.
Appts are very thorough. AND, what I like is they spell out everything you'll be going through. Your looking or wanting to move, this is the place!

There are many advantages and disadvantages of this business. First, they were one of very few dental businesses to not demand my children have x-rays done every single time they stepped in the door. Next, most of the employees are very kind. Additionally, the decor is lovely and clean. However, in over 20 years I've never had a cavity. Last summer, one of the dentists said I had a couple of SMALL cavities to fix. So, I booked an appointment to have them fixed. Only right before she started drilling she said this could become major if the tooth shattered. This should have been noted well in advance of the moment before drilling. In the drilling process, after the fact and from the assistant, I discovered the dentist did not put down a liner as she probably should have. Also, after the first dentist did the "small" cavities, the alignment of my bite/jaw was off as well as caused my teeth to have sharp cold and sweet sensitivities. Another Gentle Dentistry dentist fixed the alignment, thankfully, however, attempted to claim that the pain I was for the first time in my life experiencing was not due the shoddy work by the previous dentist (whose alignment mix up he just fixed) but rather due to my not flossing regularly (a pitiful attempt to deflect blame). After multiple extra x-rays this dental office referred me to a specialist who again x-rayed my teeth only to discover I now have to either have a root canal or just "live with" cold/sweet sensitivities triggered by the shoddy dentistry of the very first dentist. Gentle Dentistry has never reached out to me to offer assistance or apology. As such, I will be shopping for a new dentist for my family.

Very pleased with my experience! The entire staff was very friendly and caring. Dr. Zaragoza did a great job with his work by walking me through the process. He also explained to me what he was doing and why he was doing it which I found very helpful. I will definitely be returning!

I have been a patient of Gentle Dentistry in Edina for a few years. The staff is friendly and always happy to answer my questions about insurance coverage. The office is very clean. The care is great. I would recommend their services to anyone.

The people in the Edina office genuinely want to provide the best service for my dental needs. My insurance changed this year and I got caught with a dental problem while I was looking for a new dentist. I studied lots of reviews trying to find the place that would be the most comfortable for me. I filled out Gentle Dentistry's online questionnaire about my sore tooth and received a phone call from Danielle the same day. They got me in quickly and when I left my tooth did not hurt, and I had a clear understanding of Dr. Aker's plan for my tooth. Dr. Aker's and Jenna were professional and created a light and easy environment while I was in the chair. I'm so happy that I landed here.

I can't believe this place is still in business. I recently moved to Edina and wanted to find a dentist in my area. I went to Gentle Dentistry and had a disgusting vibe when I walked in the door. The office was unprofessional, their staff was awful, and after my cleaning, the dentist told me I had SIX cavities. SIX! I have never had a cavity before so this was completely shocking to me. They printed off an invoice telling me how much it would cost to fix my "six cavities". It was an outrageous fee. I went to my old dentist to get a second opinion and was told I had impressive gum tissue, great-looking teeth and NO cavities. Not ONE. This clinic should be shut down. They are scam artists and the most unprofessional people I've ever met.

Top of the line! I needed some complicated dental work done and Dr Akers did a fantastic job! I feel very confident in the denal work done here. All the hygienist I've see have been great. They took a picture of one of my back teeth.. I could see with my own eyes how terrible my back teeth were. They even helped me finance what my insurance didn't cover at 0% interest for 6 months! I have had a great experience!

So reading through some of the reviews here...the office moved middle of last year and took out many of the issues they had in their old office- moving into a new facility, clean, modern, cared-for. Part of the issue previously was the building owners were not willing to help with their remodelling, and it was a struggle for the practice, and some staffers were not very good at their jobs.

Colleen and Dr Akers do a really good job of caring for their patients. Billing still has a little bit of undesirable communication issues, but they do get resolved. (thus a 4 not a 5).

Try them again (BTW closed Mondays, but they have evening hours on other days).

My husband went to there to see Dr. Z and his staff and he didn’t stop talking about it all night! He said everyone was so friendly and that Dr. Z really cared about his clients. He said that he isn’t going to another dentist for the rest of his life!
