UMKC School of Dentistry: Providing Quality Dental Education and Services
UMKC School of Dentistry is a dental school located in Kansas City, Missouri, that offers a wide range of dental services to the community. The school provides quality education to its students, who are supervised by experienced and licensed dentists, to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
The school offers various dental services, including preventive care, restorative care, and emergency care. Patients can receive dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, and other dental procedures at affordable prices. The school also offers orthodontic treatment, including braces and Invisalign, to help patients achieve a beautiful and healthy smile.
The school's hours of operation are from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, making it convenient for patients to schedule appointments before or after work. However, the school is closed on weekends.
While the school provides quality dental services, some patients have reported negative experiences with the billing department. Patients have complained about being charged for services that were supposed to be covered by insurance, and some have reported receiving bills for services they did not receive. However, the school has taken steps to address these issues and improve its billing practices.
Overall, UMKC School of Dentistry provides quality dental education and services to the community. Patients can expect to receive affordable and high-quality dental care from experienced and licensed dentists and dental students.

There is a scheduled time frame to call for a screening. After following the props that put me on hold for 25 minutes. When my turn came around a recording said that there was a problem with the system. This is ridiculous! As much money UMKC charges students to attend there school and they can't afford a phone system that can handle call volume is unheard of. This type of negligence starts at the top! It all boils down to POOR MANAGEMENT! The Students of this School deserve better and the public that it serves deserves better. Also the operators that answer the phones are very rude a belligerent. A "What do you want and why are you calling " ,attitude.

This is a great place to get dental treatment at 1/2 the price. They also take insurance, Medicaid and Medicare. All the work is checked over by multiple doctors so you know if something is wrong, one of them will catch it. The only downside is time. Because it's a school, you have to set aside 3 hours of time for each appointment. However, in my experience, the whole 3 hours is rarely used and when it is, it was absolutely necessary.

The two ladies impatient account are very unprofessional they do not know what the school insurance will take or not take. They lock my account for a hundred and some bucks they would not work with me to make monthly payments that I'm a disability. I would highly recommend you run away from this school

At first, I was a little reluctant to go to UMKC because of some of the reviews I saw. I walked in with a dental emergency (specifically, an infected tooth) and I was welcomed with warm and helpful care.
Here are some realistic points to remember:
β’ It does take a while to get in, but they also have a high volume of patients
β’ Because itβs a very busy institution, people are trying to effectively help everyone - donβt mistake briefness for unkindness
β’ The student doctors are doing a great service to the community while also carrying lots of other responsibilities related to their work
β’ The students and residents are going to be straightforward with you because they want you to be healthy and well - they care
My student doctor was wonderful. He made me feel welcome, joked with me, and genuinely cared for my wellbeing. Every student doctor I saw in the building seemed to have really great relationships with their patients.
Lastly, the prices are very generous. Itβs well worth the wait. They also take dental insurance if you have it. If not, they will work with you. If you are on a tight budget and need good dental, or have an emergency, this is a great place to go.

12 years ago I had a dental check-up to get orthodontics done. The student said everything looked fine. a more senior instructor came by and pointed out a "cavity" that needed to be filled. The student tried to numb me up but seemed nervous and somewhat incompetent. I decided to cancel the procedure and not get the filling.
I've been to the dentist many many times since then and have not what had one report of a cavity.
I believe that they invented the cavity to give the student more experience. I think this place is shady and wouldn't recommend anyone going there. I decided to post my experience after seeing all the other negative reviews on here.

They will only make new patient appointments Monday-Friday for the following day from 8:00-8:30 am but will not answer the phones during that time. If you ask to speak to the Dean or Chancellors office they will pretend they can't hear you or hang up on you without warning. My husband is in extreme pain and needs help!!!! If it were 2019 we would be able to afford more than office visit and X-rays. I will NOT just give up. I am calling immediately to the Dental Board!! I WILL REPORT THIS SCHOOL!!!

I have been going to UMKC FACULTY for a year now. I have had the greatest experience I could have going to the dentist. Dr. JACKSON is a great Dentist and a good person in general. He has accepted me as a patient when no other Dentist would work on my teeth. The entire facility has been an overall good experience.
Thank you

I have been going for over 10 years and find that it is state of the art care at a very fair price. The biggest challenge is getting past the appointment and front desk women who have always had bad attitudes. They "lost" my last appointment and instead of fixing their error it was a lot of "hand wringing" and "I don't know what happened" along with denial it was their fault, and treated me like a deadbeat. When you have an appointment you need to schedule a half a day, parking is a pain, so they need to get their act together and be professional. Once you get past the front desk it's great.
UPDATE: 8/13/2018: Interesting I tried calling Tara back and she "is out of the office until the 20th". Typical "drop the ball" and continued lack of professionalism. UPDATE NOTE: I emailed 13 different staff members at the school with not response at all...interesting.
UPDATE: 8/20/2018: So after setting a new appointment I arrived today at 8:45am and checked in. At 9:30am I checked with the desk who paged my Student. The Student never got the appointment and did not have a chair. SO AGAIN I TOOK A DAY OFF WORK AND COULD NOT BE SEEN!!! The Student assured me that she NEVER got the appointment and told me βthey mess up in administration all the timeβ. Sad pathetic group of unprofessional women trying to run a dental clinic!

Took my friend there for emergent service bc he had an abscess. He had to pay $50 to be seen. Then for his tooth to be removed they charged $62 and took 2.5hrs from wait to when we left. Excellent price considering the type of procedure. He walked out with Rx for pain pills too. He said it was definitely worth the initial pain. Make sure to call their phone number and listen to instructions on what you need to do to be seen. They only accept 15 patients a day for emergency services.

This place is a joke. Youβre going to wait for a very long time, even with an appointment. They are rude, you will be treated as if they donβt even want you there. The pricing is not that much of a discount. Use at your own risk.
