I've been trying to deny to myself that the office rehaul they went through about 2 years ago didn't affect the service. I have unfortunately received the blatant proof I needed. My family has been going here since we moved to Reno, not needing to look any further because of the excellent care, friendly service, and attention to details.
The most recent visits have been lackluster. I had a cleaning done two weeks ago from yet another new face, and my teeth don't feel clean at all. I was going to bring it up today since I have a follow up for another quadrant. This office requires callbacks to confirm the appointment. I confirmed my appointment 2 days ago since they were not going to be open July 4th. I actually got a message from their office that they HAD to reschedule because the hygienist wasn't going to be in, could I come a few hours later. I could not, as I have a babysitter that would not be available at such short notice. I told them to forget the appointment and I would call to make another later. At that moment, she said "oh, we can take you at (your originally scheduled time) if you can make it." Of course I can make it, that was the time of my appointment for the last 2 weeks! It sounded like someone didn't want to come to work because of the sleeping off the previous holiday but I can't know for sure, so I tried to not take it personally as it sounded unprofessional. The rigmarole over the phone was unprofessional enough.
I must mention that for the last two years, approximately 80% of the appointments I make in their office have to be rescheduled because they don't have the appropriate staff member for the dental work planned. It really is quite annoying to pull out my agenda as much as I do for this office and only this office. I can understand the possible personal emergency that pops up but with the frequency at which it occurs make me think poor scheduling on part of the office/management.
In all my time as a patient there, I have NEVER cancelled an appointment. I have moved a few, but truly, never cancelled one. In the last few years I have developed migraines but too few to really affect my day to day by much. Today, the migraine I had when I went to bed is still here this morning so I called the first moment I imagined someone would be tending phones. I said I would not be able to make my appointment this morning because of a migraine and gave my name. Then she accused me of changing my appointment too many times (but I never did, I have the appointment card to prove it), said I cancelled it before (I did not, the hygienist tried to only one business day before its occurrence), and went on to say that they have to charge me for cancelling.
I understand office policy but customer service is severely lacking. I said sure, go ahead and charge me for having a migraine before my appointment (can you imagine drilling around in between each tooth while you have the most exquisite headache, and then the sensation of your face falling off while the anesthesia wears off?). If she had expressed some compassion for my pain and said that unfortunately office policy dictates I will be charged for missing an appointment without enough notice, I would have paid it and made another appointment. As such, I will pay it, updating the community as to how much it is, and they have lost a family's worth of patients in perpetuity.

This is such a great place to work!! GREAT dentist to work for! A patient in need that had severe decay on all of his lower anterior teeth. He was scheduled for (1) filling. Dr DREW did all (5) of his teeth for free! Thank you Dr. DREW you are awesome!!

These people are incompetent. They damaged my back molars and wanted my to wait over a week while I was in pain to reschedule a time to fix it.
