My son was seen to have an upper lip tie corrected. When I made the appointment we discussed the procedure and I expressed my concerns due to my son having ASD. I asked about sedation and was told that while they don’t typically do that for this procedure, it wouldn’t be a problem given the circumstances and his previous experience with medical procedures. I drove 2.5 hours for this appointment only to be told that they will not in fact use sedation and if they feel he can’t handle the procedure once they got going, we would be referred to Dartmouth. The complete lack of consideration tells me this office does not deal with a lot of special needs children. They need to better educate themselves and be more honest and up front with their patients.
