First off, I’d like to say that Dr. Mouritsen does great work. I was a patient of his for almost 10 years, he’s probably done most of the dental work in my mouth. I’ve never had any problems with anything he’s done. (This is why I’m rating Mouritsen Dental 3 stars.) I’ve been so torn on writing this because I had developed a relationship with Dr. Mouritsen and the staff there, I enjoyed working with all of them.
I stopped going to this location because I feel like they were becoming dishonest towards the end, around the time I stopped needing so much dental work. I had 2 root canals like 20 years ago, and they started to get infected. I knew that I needed to get it replaced, but it’s expensive, so I wanted to save up some money for it. I went in for a cleaning and told them exactly that. About 2 months later, they called me in for more x-rays, so I went in and got them. The next day, the hygienist told me that the infection was so bad that I’d have to go in and get antibiotics immediately, and people DIE from infections.
At this point, I’m freaking out trying to scrape up money to get this stuff done. I went back in about another month later, where they told me I could get all of this work done for the low, low price of FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I’m shocked and angry now, because the receptionist made it sound like it was a $20.00 bill. I don’t know about you, but $5000.00 is a lot of money to me. I can’t just pull it out of… well anywhere. To top that all off, I asked them to give me the antibiotics. I mean, I still don’t want to die, especially after I’ve figured out how I’m going to pay for all of this. They had no idea what I was talking about. Whaaat?! I’ve been panicking for a month now thinking I could be the next news article of the idiot that died from a tooth infection!
Procedure day rolls around. I’m highly suspicious now. I asked the hygienist to show me the x-rays of the infected area. Since it has gotten so bad, I should be able to see it, right? She showed me x-rays from three years prior. After I had just gone in for TWO x-rays that year. That’s it, I’m done. I had them do the extractions and bone grafts, but finished the work elsewhere and never looked back. It really is a shame, I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Mouritsen’s dental work.

About a month ago I had a same day emergency visit. I went into the office and it ended up being a cold sore, so they didn’t have to do anything. They said not to worry about paying anything, which won over my business. I don’t remember the last time I heard of a medical service not charging out the “yin-yang” for an emergency visit.
Yesterday, I went back in for a teeth cleaning and was greeted by several smiles. The receptionist remembered me and my visit from a month back. Extremely impressed with this dentist office! Not worth trying any other dentist. Come here!
