Exceptional Smiles Family Dentistry

Dr.Eye is down to earth and makes you feel comfortable. I like to see the older Dr. Eye more than his son even though he is very good. Dr. Eye is about my age. I like that we have more in common like gardening. All my dental visits have been fantastic. I have been a patient of Dr. Eye's for 15 years.

Just recently moved to virginia & was looking for a dentist here in town. I found Exceptional Smiles Family Dentistry has good reviews so I called & made an appointment. I am glad I went to this office as the staff were very friendly & helpful.Treated me like family & Dr.Eye is very knowledgeable.He explained why i need a crown but since i'm a little bit nervous,Dr.Eye offered me nitrous for free. :) I recommend this office if you need a new dentist in town.

I got scammed by this dentist. He said my silver fillings (Amalgam) were bad for my health (a myth) and convinced me to do crowns. Unfortunately, I believed him and open a credit card to pay for these crowns. Since then, I had many complications with these crowns and had to do a root canal on one of them.
Please do not go to this dentist.

I had a great experience. Staff was very professional and friendly, Dr. Eye II did a great job, very quick and painless. So far best dental experience I've had. Definitely recommend this Dentistry.

Here are the bad experiences I have had with exceptional smiles and Dr. Kenneth Eye Jr. at their Harrisonburg office and the reasons why I would advise you to look elsewhere for honest, quality dentistry:

1.) The ZOOM laser whitening procedure Dr. Eye provides was quoted to me at $1000, or $500 per arch. I paid for the service prior to setting up an appointment and, after questioning my decision, gathered quotes from a few other practices in the Harrisonburg area for the same ZOOM treatment. Not a single other practice charged more than $500 for both top and bottom arches, with others as low as $150 per arch. When confronted with info, Dr. Eye offered to price match, but my trust had been broken. I requested a full refund to which he obliged and I went without getting the work done.
2.) During my last visit to their practice, I was provided a binder with laminated pages inscribed with damning statistics and warnings on the dangers of oral cancer. I was also handed a clipboard with more statistics and an offer for a $35 optional oral cancer screening. I reluctantly opted yes since I was occasionally using tobacco. Dr. Eye asked me if I opted for it once I was in the chair, then flashed a blacklight in my mouth for no more than 3 seconds and said "no cancer"! I was fit to be tied.
3.) To preface my last gripe, I have had 3 cavities total and I am 24. On the same visit as the oral cancer screening, Dr. Eye told me I had gotten 2 or more new cavities since last year, and recommended a crown on an existing filling to prevent a tooth breakage. I was skeptical, but I asked what my co payment would be to which I was quoted at $2200, and told that he could do it that same day. I was wearing clothes I have had since high school and did not look like someone who had more than $17 in his checking account and he looked at me like I was Mark Zuckerberg while he awaited my response to his offer. I declined the offer and furiously walked away to increase my dental coverage for repairs to get next year. After my visit with another dentist today, I learned that all my teeth are in great shape and I have no cavities.

For these reasons I cannot recommend Exceptional Smiles. However, their hygienists at the time were very sweet and professional. Dr. Eye is just very crooked in my opinion.

I was looking for a dentist to extract a tooth I had been having a lot of pain from. I hate going to the dentist because I’ve had bad experiences in the past but I had a great experience when I had my tooth extracted a month ago and today. The staff is very friendly and I will definitely be keeping Dr. Eye for a dentist.

Dr. Eye has a great 'chairside' manner which makes it so much easier for me to overcome my fear of dental procedures. He is caring and in my experience he is highly knowledgeable and skilled dentist.

My first visit to the dentist in years. Dentistry has changed and the dentists are much more friendlier than I remember. Dr. Eye was very though and knowledgable. I could tell he is passonate about his patients. The office was new and the workers were friendly enough the entire visit.

The staff here is great. As an adult I’ve always been unhappy with the look of my smile. They suggested clear correct because I did not want traditional braces. I couldn’t be happier. They explained exactly what to expects and have answered all of the questions I’ve had. I also love that they use a little device called the Cavitron to clean my teeth because it is a lot easier and doesn’t kill your gums like the scrappers most dentists use.

I am so impressed with this office and their staff! I came in just to set up an appointment and instead they made time to see me on the spot. They are always so personable, kind and friendly! I normally hate going to the dentist, but the staff here makes it very enjoyable. I am thankful that I came here! Thank all of you for being AWESOME!!!
