The staff at the office are great. They are positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and take time to answer questions. Nicole is very helpful with insurance information and work with them to get you the best benefits and billing. I have never gotten VM..they always have answered the phone! I'm able to get in quickly when I have teeth issues.

Michelle and Rene do thorough work, explain what they are doing, and always make sure I am comfortable. Dr. Shaw is really personable and goes out of his way to provide the best treatment that is right for me. He takes the time to answer questions and provides details.

The office is not just about "what" services they provide, but rather the best fit for each individual and the "why" behind what they do. I have some advanced dental work coming up and they listened to me about my anxiety, went over the process, and Dr. Shaw is patient and understanding with my anxiety (whining). I highly recommend them!!!

South Hill Comprehensive Dentistry headed up by Dr. Ulysses Vargas is going an amazing job at keeping patients safe. Everyone is in masks and protective equipment as needed. Dr. Vargas has added special air filters and other safety devices to keep patients and staff safe. I had an emergency treatment during phase 1. Recently I have had a full teeth cleaning and a new cap put on. That is five visits in the last three months. As a member of the older vulnerable population safety is a real issue. I feel very safe and well taken care of with Dr Vargas.

I had an Urgent Dental issue, and from the first call to the end of my appointment, the friendliness, competency, efficiency, and compassion of Dr. Vargas and his staff made dealing with it a breeze. Not only do I have a new dentist, I feel like I made a group of new friends! Never thought I would look forward to going to a dentist, but I am grateful to be having all of my future Dental Care done in this office. If you need a dentist, or have any issues with your current one, calling SHCD will be one of the best decisions you ever made!

Dr. Vargas is an amazing & caring dentist & was carefully chosen to replace the dentist that my family has gone to for over 25 years after his retirement. His staff is equally top notch. Always professional & very skilled. Wouldn't go anywhere else! 👍

Dr Shaw is by far the best dentist I have ever had. His fillings look amazing and I trust him with any family member or friend. After many years of average dental care I can tell I am good hands when in his chair. I wish he would have been my dentist as a child, I can only imagine how healthier and in better shape I would be. He takes the time to educate you on how you teeth effect your health and how to help you keep them and your whole body healthier.

I like Dr. Vargas and his staff. They are friendly and I feel they do good work but today they disappointed me. My son and I went for cleanings. My son is 29 and developmentally disabled. He has been on Molina for a number of years. Today when we checked out they said we owed $248. I never have to pay so asked why. They told me Dr Vargas was no longer accepting Molina insurance. Why was I not informed of the change? Wasn't there a moral and ethical responsibility to do so? Why did they not say anything prior to his being seen? His bill was almost half of his monthly disability income. He can't afford that. It upset me enough that I found a new dentist and transferred my records. I have been willing to run to the opposite side of town for this dentist for 30 yearsy but no more. We have to do better, especially for this population.

I had a couple fillings done and DrVargas and staff did a great job! I had the fillings placed by the expanded function dental assistant JoRayne and she was very gentle and knew what she was doing I got the hand wax done and it was fantastic. They really seemed to care about how I was doing throughout the procedure. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a good dental experience.

Dr Vargas is the best dentist I have ever seen. Actually look forward to coming in to this office. Highly recommend!!

Dr. Shaw and his staff were wonderful. From his receptionist and on, they took great care of me. They even made time for the unexpected filling.
