I’ve been a patient of West pines modern dentistry for over a year. I should say I was. You want to trust a person who will take care of you, so I did. I have no medical background so I trusted everything that was said to me. Almost Every month that I was coming for a visit, I needed something done. And every single time I was leaving with at least $500 less in my wallet. “You need to fix this, you need to fix that, oh that tooth is bad, you need a crown, you need a inlay, fillings won’t be good” so I was fixing whatever my doctor told me to.

I never thought of getting second opinion, because again, I thought I could trust my dentist.

Until today. I got second opinion. And I definitely do not need cleaning for $400. I don’t have any periodontal disease. I do not need to crowns or onlays. Just one filling. Imagine How surprised I was. I only wish I could get second opinion before I spent couple thousands on teeth that most likely needed only fillings. Not to mention all the stress and tears.

I only will give two starts for clean office and skills in convincing patients that their services are “much needed”.

Btw all those five stars y’all see from past couple months are from “if leave a review you can win a electric toothbrush”. You’re welcome.

I recently went to West Pines Modern Dentistry for a deep cleaning. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted cheerfully by the staff and helped right away. I can honestly say that I received the best cleaning that I have ever had. The dental hygienist, Yasmin, was great and took great care to make the cleaning a pain free experience. I highly recommend using her and will continue going to her in the future. Overall, I am very satisfied with the level of care and attention that they provide and look forward to my next visit.

I don’t really post reviews, however, I HAD to this time. I’ve never had such a wonderful experience at a dental office until I met Dr.Ochoa and crew. The office is very clean and orderly and strict Covid regulations are being followed. I went in knowing I had several things to do and no one made me feel bad about it. The assistants we’re very caring and careful with the X-rays. Dr.Ochoa and the hygienist jay both examined me and have great chair-side manners and didn’t make me feel bad. The genuinely cared and were concerned for my dental needs and took the time to explain everything to detail and answer my 100 questions (sorry lol). After the exam the financial team reviewed all my options with my insurance and were VERY detailed about everything, which is important to me especially in these times. I thought I had to schedule out but they easily worked me in for today! The hygienist gave me great tips on how to care for myself at home and recommended me several things I now have and regret not having before. After my visit today I am sure going to follow up with my new dental family. They have put me at ease and taught me much about the importance of keeping my mouth healthy and how it connects to the body’s health, which I did not know!!! Thank you guys so much! See ya soon!

Let me start by saying that the staff here is amazing and the service is wonderful !!! Why the 1 star rating? One thing I do notice, is that the doctor tries to push additional services that are not covered by insurance. One of those being scaling and root planing. They explain the difference between a deep dental cleaning vs a regular cleaning. A deep cleaning is a treatment procedure that requires anesthesia and several follow up visits. But I refused this because its very high out of pocket cost, so the doctor refuse to clean my teeth.... its like if you refuse to do a crowning they wont treat you... that's how I took it.... it feels like the doctor tries to push additional services that are very costly. I never had this happen before, so I will be taking my family to another dentist.... I just can't believe that if I don't do something that is not covered by insurance, the dentist refuses to do any common treatment.....

This place is not good when it comes to last minute rescheduling. They either forget to tell me they rescheduled my appointment or they do it 10 minutes before your appointment begins, I understand things happen but its extremely inconvenient when I have to request work off to make the appointment. Additionally the girl who works the front desk is always moody, I do not like talking to her because she always has an attitude, its as if she hates talking to people over the phone and working at a dental office.

I am always a bit hesitant to go to the dentist. This time my experience was amazing. Dr.Shiner is an amazing doctor and Markey was also a great assistant and helped with everything. Made me feel at ease.

Dr Perez is amazing! I hadn't been to a dentist in years due to my phobia but now after experiencing the care at West Pines Modern Dentistry I am no longer scared of the dentist! Yasmin did my cleaning and she was great! No pain, talked me through every step and taught me how to floss properly. The girls in the front are very welcoming and polite. Karen the manager even helped with a payment plan for all my dental work. I'm so glad I came to this office!

I haven’t been to the dentist since I was a little girl and I had a horrific experience so I was scared but, the staff from the receptionist to the dentist made me feel very comfortable. It was a memorable experience and I would go back. The dental assistant Markeythia was ecstatic to help and was very patient and helpful.

Not happy ! Brought our daughter for cleaning which should be anything between 90 and 120 usd . She was told she has gingivitis and needed extra laser treatment for 95 usd extra .
It turns out the bill is over 360 usd because the prices we were given only apply if you have a dental plan with them (cost of extra 120 usd ) . Total lack of transparency.
Then she is told she has an inlay and treatment will be additional 360 usd, if she has the dental plan .
Right now we are not sure we believe she has an inlay just because we feel we are being mislead from the get go .
If we had been told the cleaning alone was 240 usd ... we would not be here .
Just make sure you ask for the costs twice in advance .

Edit : While the other provided services are invoiced , the "dental plan" payment of 119 usd does not get invoiced and only a manual receipt is provided. I do not think this is normal or appropriate and seems very shady ! To me it smells like unreported cash under the table .

I went to West Pines Dentistry for a cleaning and annual xrays in mid-2018. I felt uncomfortable when employees kept trying to push extra an unnecessary services on me. I did not have dental insurance at this time and I was not in the position to pay out of pocket for a handful of things that would have added up to quite a large amount. I was told that I had a cavity and would need to return to get it filled. While I took their word for it, I was surprised as it is very rare for me to get cavities. I decided to wait on getting the cavity filled until a later date.
Fast forward to 6 months later (last week), I had appointment at a new dental office in Fort Lauderdale, only to learn that I have absolutely no cavities and that my teeth are in perfect shape. I even had my new dentist double check my teeth and the new x-rays to make sure.
It turns out that West Pines Modern Dentistry falsely claimed that I have a cavity in attempt to rip me off. It would have cost me a couple of hundred dollars out of pocket to fill a cavity that did not even exist.

PLEASE, save your time and hard earned dollars and visit a more reputable dental practice. I will be reporting this practice to the Better Business Bureau.
