I think the doctor is very intelligent and well qualified as a dentist and the people that work for him are fantastically well mannered and kind.

I have heard of people making the decision to leave their dentist for one reason or another, but have you heard of a dentist deciding not to see a patient because of what happened during the second opinion?

According to Dr. Guelpa's staff, I did 2 wrong things when I sought a 2nd opinion.

1: During the 2nd opinions Doctors visit, she took panoramic x-rays of her own. This action was not OK with Dr. Guelpa, according to his staff.

2: While waiting for the doctors second opinion examination, one of the girls came up to me and said, "It is going to take a bit to see the dentist, want your teeth cleaned?" Actually, I usually do the cleanings myself but I thought, "Why not!" She said my gums were healthy and I had been doing a great job. Unfortunately, the teeth cleaning was a major issue with Dr. Guelpa, so says his staff. I know this because they mentioned it several times during my many conversations begging him to remove this tooth.

I went to Dr. Guelpa in the 1st place, because he is in my network. Plus, I had already decided he would be my primary dentist, since he had state of the art equipment (which by the way, is a plus for his business and deserving of that one star) and I like most of his staff (deserving of the 2nd star).

I was diagnosed with cancer, shortly after my visit with the 2nd opinion dentist. My life changed drastically. Once an assumed healthy, happy women's life, has been in an unbalanced state, with operations and chemo, for months. I am currently still going through chemo, but it had to stop when this tooth became infected and loose. It is the same tooth I had major issues with, and the reason I needed a 2nd opinion, it is now half dangling from my gums. Apparently, chemo takes a toll on the teeth, making a bad situation worse. This tooth was half damaged by a chicken bone, and Dr. Guelpa's plan, did not in fact, meet up with the other doctors plan, which I was going to talk to him about when I saw him again. She felt his plan was an expense not needed. I would eventually lose this tooth. It was not worth saving. Having said that, she does not remove teeth so I had to go back to Guelpa regardless. But then I got diagnosed with cancer, uterine cancer, which had spread to my ovaries, and it took precedent over any other health condition, including my teeth. Now, so says Dr. Guelpa's management team, I am not a good fit for him since I went against his treatment plan. He claimed I had periodontal disease, and he wanted to treat me for that disease before I got my teeth cleaned. I am not disputing whether or not I have this disease just that I find it odd the girl who cleaned my teeth said my gums looked healthy to her. But he is a dentist with much more experience and schooling. Then again, the good second opinion Doctor never said anything about my gums being diseased, and she is the one who did the panoramic x-rays and she was all up in my mouth.

So, the end result is that Dr. Guelpa refused to even see me, or to remove the tooth, so that I can continue chemo treatment.

I was also told, he no longer does extractions anyway, so it doesn't matter. Yet, I am aware, that Dr. Guelpa removed my sisters tooth a month ago because, I sent her to him. That is what I do, when I do business with someone. I send them more business, and I am good at growing a business. I was also told removing teeth, via this Doctor, is a rarity. But it seems that my needing an urgent removal, so that I could continue with chemo was not a rare enough occasion, and he was not interested in helping me.

Having said all this, most of his staff members are generally kind. Robin, is very nice and tries to be as helpful as she can, but in this case her hands were tied.

This is also one of the cleanest dentist offices I have ever visited. So if you are strictly looking for a sterile environment, there you will have it.

My mother is a patient of this Dr. Guelpa and she was most disappointed with his service. He talked about her teeth with jokes to nurse she was very hurt. A 79 yr old retired nurse. She was hurt over patient treatment.I wouldn't give you a half of a star but this the least star they would show. You owe her an apology and she will not be back your already replaced.

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Guelpa and his office staff. Everytime I've been there to have dental work or just a routine cleaning has been the best experience. That's saying alot from someone who is terrified of needles. LOL I would highly reccomend Dr. Guelpa.

I’m on the fence about the service here. I bought my daughter in to be seen and the wait time was almost an hour but I guess that is about normal for dentist office my last dentist I think the longest I ever waited was about 45 minutes and that was because he had an emergency. Anyway, I never received eye contact from anyone but they were pleasant and the dental assistant was very helpful and provided some really good information. My son and I both have an appointment coming up soon and I will be able to give a better review of the service.
