Dr. Garrett takes pride in his work and congratulates himself when he looks over a crown or filling that he put in my mouth years ago. He is a happy dentist who hums as he works. The hygienists are friendly, patient and careful. The office has implemented safety precautions for COVID19.

Very professional service at every visit. Their current COVID - 19 precautions made me feel very safe including their outside pre-screening process, to the individual airborne germ filtration units at every station, and constant meticulous sanitization of surfaces and equipment.

Great staff and Dentist. If you do not have insurance watch out. It cost me $245 for xray and filling and they said without my discount plan it would have been over $500. National average is $150 for this service.

this is my third dentist in Hilo for my 8 year old son. the first one was so bad, I felt compelled to lodge a formal complaint with DCCA. I have since learned that other parents have also made formal complaints re breaches of medical privacy and other issues we did not experience involving providing treatment to minors w/o adult consent. the second dentist was so aggressive in terms of recommending, what I later learned (and long suspected), was unnecessary treatment and care. The dentists and staff at Island Ohana have thus far met and exceeded our criteria for conservatively recommending only necessary treatment and for providing professional care which is respectful of medical privacy and also respectful of young children's needs for kindness and compassion and their parents' needs for consent and consultation. thank you.

I dont write poor reviews but I feel obligated to share my story. I went for an exam and cleaning which went fine. The dentist referred me out for a potential root canal. Turns out the consult to tell me I did not need a root canal cost me $300. The endodontist referred me back to island ohana for a night guard. On arrival I did not get a night guard but a filling in an unrelated tooth which was the most uncomfortable filling I've ever had. After having an emotional breakdown due to the discomfort the dentist told me that I dont take procedures well. The next day I fractured a different tooth due to poor bite changed from the filling. After requesting to see a different dentist to fix the cracked tooth, the owner refused to "take on my case" and recommended I go elsewhere. I explained that I tried but no one would have room for the next 3 weeks. They still refused. They refunded me. However I am incredibly disappointed they did not try to make the bad experience right and just exited me from the clinic.
The manager Stephanie was very pleasant and helpful. Just a clinic that takes no ownership for their care.

Went to get my new crown worked on today, I found the dental staff, from the clerks to the dental assistants and the Dr were professional, kind, friendly and very marvelous at making u feel comfortable welcomed and relaxed while in the chair
