Edit: Had to come back and down rate after getting charged much more than what I was expecting. My insurance (BCBS HMSA)covers basic 1st time exam, x-rays and cleaning but this office refuses to work with us for what we can afford and insists on doing extra x-rays that aren’t covered. This is the first dentist office that we’ve been to where this has been an issue. So now back to work to find another dentist office. Very disappointing.
Original on day off first appt: Wow! Very nice, clean place and friendly staff. It was a record for the shortest amount of time spent in an x-ray and cleaning appointment! I really like how the dentist was teaching and explaining the importance of oral health care to my daughter throughout the cleaning and exam.

I had a terrible toothache overnight, I knew I couldn't go to my usual dentist because the wait takes months just to get in. My other half suggested I go to his dentist because they always take him in even as a walk in and their quick about it. The service was pleasant, I've never been treated so nicely before, very welcoming staff upon arrival. Dr. Jill Uehara was wonderful as well, she gave me the rundown of my problem and options on what I want done. I couldnt get an extraction since they were pretty busy, but they gave me what I needed and referred me to someone who could get it done sooner. They made future scheduling for me as well, so I can take care of all my other problem areas that I had no idea was going on. Having a Dr. Who is open, gives honest suggestions and opinions are appreciated in my book, I'm looking forward to my next appointment! Thank you to the Dr. And the wonderful team!

Gentle, caring staff. Bends over backwards to get an appointment for you. They are familiar with my insurance and they know what the co pay is before you get there. While they want the co-pay and your half upfront, there is never a surprise bill later, which I've almost always gotten from other dentists. UPDATE: A year later and still the best. I could do without all the COVID protocols though. I signed my copay statement and the receptionist sterilized the pen I used. Made me feel rather dirty. It's not them, it's the State, I know this. But still....

This was my first visit to a dentist since moving to Hilo. I had heard that there would be very long delays for appointments, but, this office was able to accommodate me with only a one month wait. All of the employees were friendly even though it was a busy day. Dr. Jill Uehara gave excellent care and even cleaned and flossed my teeth as she did not want me to have a long delay in returning to the office for a separate cleaning appointment. Talk about personal attention!
