Post Family Dental

I can confidently say that I like the dentist now that I see Dr. Brian Post. I know that’s not a common sentiment, but it’s true. As a person who has had a less then stellar relationship with their teeth over the years, this is a big statement. The whole staff makes me feel welcome and cared for. Michelle at the front desk is always so kind, caring, and willing to go that extra step to make sure everything is in order. Jen makes my teeth feel and look the cleanest they ever have (and I’ve gotten a LOT of cleanings through my life) and she is the absolute best. Dr. Brian is extremely knowledgeable and always ready to listen to you. If you have concerns, hesitations, or are downright nervous, he makes sure that you feel safe in his hands. This office is the number one best dentist’s office I have ever been a patient at and I will sing their praises to everyone!

Very friendly, efficient and professional. I never needed to wait long. Going to see a dentist used to be one of my least favorite things to do, but with them, they make the whole process nice and neat.

If you want a dentist who cares more about himself than you – Dr. Post is the man for you!
If you want a dentist who gets upset and angry when you mention feeling anxious about dental work – then look no further!
If you want a dentist who says he’s “Done!” with you if you dare to ask him for a referral to a different specialist – well then, it’s your lucky day!
Our whole family used to go this practice because it was so conveniently located and frankly we were too lazy to explore other options as nobody had really needed anything more than a routine cleaning for the most part.
The front office is usually lovely and the hygienists used to be good.
Unfortunately, it looks like all the good hygienists have left and the one they currently have (Jeanine?) is a nightmare.
My daughter who has been away from home attending school in a different state had come home for a few weeks after a long time. As she had not been to the dentist for nearly 3 years due to her busy schedule (as well as nervousness due to Covid), I suggested that she make it a point to get her teeth cleaned this summer.
We had expected that there would be a suggestion to have her wisdom teeth removed but since she had not been experiencing any particular discomfort we were hoping to schedule it possibly over winter break when she would be home again.
But Dr. Post wanted my daughter to have “emergency” surgery for her wisdom teeth and he and his hygienist began to engage us in a round of scare tactics to force us to visit his favored oral surgeon.
We were suitably alarmed and went to see his oral surgeon only to feel extremely uneasy and uncomfortable with him.
All hell broke loose when we told Dr. Post that our visit to his preferred specialist had made us uncomfortable and we wanted a different referral.
When I explained that my daughter was anxious and nervous about rushing into a surgery, he blew a gasket and started yelling at me to be a “strong mom” and get her in there. When I explained our unease at having her surgery done with a doctor who we were not comfortable with – he pretty much exploded and started screaming at me on the phone and refused to help us find a different oral surgeon.
We were left feeling like we were hostages to this demented madman and his cronies.
When I finally recovered from his verbal abuse, I started calling round to other dentists and oral surgeons to get 2nd and 3rd opinions.
Two important things we learned over the last few days:
1. There was no reason for us to rush into an “emergency” situation (in retrospect that should have been obvious when Dr. Post refused to find a different oral surgeon for us).
2. There are a lot of good dentists/oral surgeons out there. Ones who actually care about the patient.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this practice – there’s plenty of good dentists out there.
Oh by the way – this office also offers bribes for good reviews. So beware of what you read here.

Dr. Post is the best and Jen does a great job as my hygienist. Everyone at the office is very courteous and professional and really put me at ease especially if I have a problem. Glad they are there for me !!!!!

Dr. Brian Post is, hands-down, the best, most honest, most skillful, warmest and friendliest dentist imaginable. Jen is superb, too. Really, everything about their practice is top-notch, and I highly, highly recommend them. Today, for example, they came to the rescue with A++ work after I lost a good part of one of my front teeth. Not a pretty sight when I arrived at their office; now, after some pain-free dentistry, that problem is fixed and essentially invisible.

I have been going to Post Family Dental for over 20 years. Everyone who works there is nice and professional. I actually look forward to going to the Dentist! The facilities are great and the City views are unbeatable. Highly recommend.

I love Dr Post and his dental practice. I have been going to his office for about 8 years now. They are always on time. They don't push procedures that aren't necessary and the best part - Dr Post (Sr) is just an all-around great guy. I highly recommend Post Family Dental.

I have been with Dr. post as my dentist for over 20 years. He is extremely conscientious, careful and gentle. He takes the time to explain every procedure. I have had a few crowns placed on my teeth and always they fit precisely well and he has always matched the color to the surrounding teeth. Throughout the years, I have noticed at the office has kept up with the most modern technology and equipment. It is a very pleasant atmosphere.
The staff in his office is very knowledgeable, well trained and efficient in their procedures. They have answered all of my questions explaining clearly any concerns I have. They have been very courteous.
The office is in one of the most beautiful buildings on Michigan Avenue. It’s style is art deco. The view from his office on the 33rd floor looks at Michigan Avenue to the north and to the river. It is a delight to look out at these wonderful views of the city. I highly recommend working with Dr. post and his staff.

As always - Great experience. Very friendly staff. Amy and Michelle at the front desk are great and keep the process very easy. Hygienist Jenni is great to work with, genuinely cares about the patients and gives a very thorough cleaning, and Dr.'s Shawn and Brian Post are knowledgeable, give great recommendations, and when I started experiencing some pain and headaches in the mornings, they explained the benefits of a nightguard and it made all the difference in the world. Great follow up too readjusting it over time well. Family run practice the way you would hope it would be!

I've been visiting with Dr. Shawn Post now for about 10 years; my spouse even longer than that. The team does everything well. They are pros, speaking clearly, are organized, and keep there offices very sanitary, clean and tidy. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them without any reservations.
