I have had a fear of dentists and this place has helped me feel so much better. The hygienists and dentist are all very kind and approachable. I have had only good experiences at this office. Highly recommend!

I'm pretty much a big baby when it comes to going to the Dentist, my father in law is a Dentist and I don't even let him near my teeth. But all I can say is that this office made me feel very welcomed and calm. From the hygienist to the actual doctor, all are very nice and no badgering.

Update: I shared my experience with the dentist office directly & Dr. Kingsley Achikeh personally called to see if anything could be salvaged from the visit. He suggested many options & plans, he deserves a lot of credit for caring so deeply about his business/practice/brand that he would call me immediately the next day. Credit where credit is due.

I understand that he cannot be in the office at all times, but would my experience have been different if he was my dentist? Don’t know. I still wish I read about the possibility of the hygienist experience I had.

1st time visit review:

Office staff was fine. The dentist (not Dr. Achikeh) was fine, we talked for about 5 minutes.

Hygienist review:
New patient. First time visit. The hygienist I was assigned my teeth was INCREDIBLY rough with my teeth & gums. They are still sore today & it’s been several weeks since my appt.

Without touching my teeth, the hygienist instructed me to come back 3x/year instead of the regular 2x/ year that insurance covers. I’m not a dentist, maybe I do. The hygienist did some more oral exams. She did the Gum Disease test, which is NOT supposed to hurt, but she kept hitting my nerves. I have had this test done 2 times (not including this time) in the past & it has never ever hurt as much as it did this time. It was like she was purposely seeking the nerve while measuring. No, you don’t need to push so hard to get the same exact result.

When doing another test, she could not hold back her disgust or horror (?) when she was feeling around my mouth area as part of her comprehensive exam. I have common TMJ problems & she literally said “wow, this is such a bad case.” Maybe she was trying to build rapport, maybe she said it in jest, but it was something about her tone, but this “something” didn’t go away during the duration of my visit.

When she went in to actually clean my teeth, she was SO ROUGH with my teeth. I could feel her pushing so hard with the water pick tool, she hit the nerve every single time. I’ve had this done before so many times, from hygienists who, at the time of this writing, were trained at the 2nd best dentistry school in the US, I know how they’re supposed to feel when they’re on your teeth, I know how much pressure you’re supposed to feel: NONE! You’re not supposed to not feel any pain at all.

She’d occasionally ask me questions about my teeth & be incredibly contemptuous with an accusatory tone when asking health questions, “I’m trying to figure out if this is why you’re exhibiting these problems, or if it’s that!” That is NOT how you’re supposed to ask a question to another human being— any human being ever.

When she was scraping my teeth with the scraper tool, it legitimately felt like my teeth were going to crumble from how hard she was scraping & pushing at them. My teeth are still in pain from the cleaning from this office. I’ve been to many, many dentists in my life with many, many hygienists cleaning my teeth, but never EVER have I left a cleaning with my teeth in so much pain.

I got my teeth cleaned about 8m ago from my regular dentist. I know now, it IS worth the risk of getting COVID-19 to see my previous dentist to clean my teeth. I could’ve been unlucky, but you spend more time with the hygienist than the actual dentist. Her professionalism left much to be desired —I’m speaking directly to her shock/horror/despair while doing my examination.

She also suggested 2 procedures as is he was a dentist, which she ABSOLUTELY is not. One: suggested I come back 3x/year instead a 2x/year, which insurance does not cover. Two: heavily suggested I do a deep gum cleaning procedure in which I go under general anesthesia and they clean my gums. Like a dog.

This is the first time I’ve actually understood why people dread going to the dentist. Yikes. I spent the whole time hoping for the visit to be over. I do not recommend office based on this one-time experience.

Dr. Achikeh provided a completely pain free and calm experience. He was absolutely incredible to work with. I chose to use City Place Dental through a friends recommendation. I completely understand why now. The dental assistants and associates are all extremely knowledgeable which put my mind at ease. From walking me through intake, listening to my concerns, assessing the problem, and to flawlessy fixing the issue is something that only an experienced team can do. I hope to use them for years to come. Thank you Dr. Achikeh and City Place Dental for your excellent service.

was nervous about a extraction and Dr.Akikeh was very attentive and made sure I was completely numb even during the process. Best dentist experience all together. I am not a fan of dentists and he goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable which is every important to me. Also had a weekend dental emergency and I was able to get that handled through Akikeh also. 5 stars.
