When my regular dentist couldn't get me in for a crown for over a month, my friend recommended Dr. Zelen. I called and they were able to get me in within a week for a same day procedure. I really appreciate being able to spend the extra time to have it done in one day. The office runs like a well-oiled machine, everyone knows what they need to do. Pleasant surroundings that give you the feeling of being very "clean". I will now be using this office for all of my dental care.

When I called to make an appointment I specifically asked if my insurance (Delta Dental PPO) would be accepted. I was assured that this was the case so I scheduled the first available appointment for a cleaning, which was about two months out. When I arrived after a long wait, I was turned away because I was told that they didn’t accept my insurance. I am faculty at UMD and my insurance policy is not unique. If you also work at UMD I strongly recommend learning from my mistake and not wasting your time trying to make an appointment here.

Called them as a first time customer with extreme amounts of pain, and they got me in 2 days later. They performed a root canal and did the crown in the same appointment. They also diagnosed me with a tounge tie that is the root of a lot of sleeping and neck issues. Very affordable. Super impressed and happy I found them.

I have gone to Mt. Royal Dental for a few years now, but I will not be going back. The hygenists have always been great, but Dr. Zelen never seems to have enough time to listen to concerns and questions. Dr. Zelen examined my teeth for less than a minute, gave me a referral and sent me on my way. She simply relied on the information given to her from the hygenist, rather than conducting her own exam, or asking me, the patient about any problems or concerns. Dr. Zelen was obviously more concerned with her other patients rather than myself, and appears to not have enough time to adequately care for all of her patients.
If you are looking for a dentist who is happy to have you as their client and not just as another source of income, I suggest looking at one of the many other dental offices in the area as I will now do.
