I had my first appointment at Park Dentistry today. As dentists visits go--it was perfect. Because it was my first time there, there were the extra steps needed, like xrays, which is never fun when you have a tiny mouth. But they were great and kind. The Hygenist was awesome, thorough, but moving quickly with confidence. No annoying chitter chatter, just clear communication about what she was doing, but with a sweet and humorous touch.
Dr. Milito was great. I used to have this idea that dentists weren't trust worthy, or were always trying to sell you on some kind of care for your teeth. I'm sure there are those types out there, but I have learned my lesson the hard way. If you have a good dentist they are only giving you advice to help you have healthy teeth now..and in the future. Dr. Milito seems to be one of the good ones, who cares. And yes, sometimes that means straight talking to you ABOUT WEARING YOUR NIGHT GUARD. Cuz, really, it's your teeth that are moving not hers.
I will follow up with future posts on how it goes. As I am likely going to follow Dr. Militos advice to have further treatment for the better of my future mouth.

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO GO TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH. VERY EXPERIENCED ,PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS AND HIGHLY FAVORED AND FRIENDLY STAFF ESPECIALLY THE FRONT DESK STAFFERS.I HAD TO DO A PERIODONTAL ROOT CLEANING AND THE DENTIST DID AN ABSOLUTE GOOD JOB. THEY EXPLAINED VERY WELL WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THANKS TO THEIR PROFESSIONALISM ,I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST OFFICE.

I met Sofia at a Tony Robbins event recently and I was compelled to share my experience with her clientele. She is overflowing with joy and passion for what she does. If you are looking to partner with a new Dentist that will put your needs in front of their own you owe it to yourself to give Park Dentistry a call.

Got a lot of help from Dr. Milito and their stuff. My TMJ is much better now. Can't thank them enough!

Very professional and very friendly. Uses state of the art technology. The cleaning was extremely thorough. Besides the buzzing brush, scraper thing, and fluoride treatment, she also flossed! I don't think I've ever experienced a better cleaning. Also, they have free wireless which is great for those of us who carry an ipad. Ironically, they don't make you wait a long time at your appointment to see a doctor, which is much appreciated.

How much do I love Park Dentistry? I flew across country after I moved to California just so I could still get my teeth cleaned by them (okay, I was in town for a wedding, but still). They were incredibly accommodating with my tight schedule, and did everything they could to help. Brittany even gave me an extra buff for a brighter wedding smile! Let's stop and talk about Britt for a second-- She's been my main hygienist for about 2 years, and makes going to the dentist not an utter drag. Sincere, sassy, and professional, Brittany makes me actually look forward to the check ups. The whole team at Park Dentistry is great, go there!

My visit to her practice today was a horrible experience. Her stand-in Dr. Amato and Nurse Sonia Reed were unspeakable. They asserted that I do not clean my teeth correctly and on a regular basis, and treated me as a moron.
I have pockets and have my teeth cleaned every three months with also regular visits to a Periodontist. I had my teeth cleaned at this office last August 6th, preparatory to my last visit to the Periodontist, on the 7th (August), who did some surgery on my right upper jaw.
Moving back to New York in 2010 I had decided to try to have a local dentist, hence my selection of Dr. Milito because her practice is nearby. However I have been traveling for the last 13 months abroad and have had my teeth cleaned in Sicily, and Denmark, to maintain my regular schedule. I also use an electric tooth brush and clean my teeth each morning and evening. I also use a mouth wash each day.
These two staff members were rude, unreasonable and really unpleasant to me. They claimed my teeth were dirty, that there was a large build-up of plaque, despite the fact I brush so intensively twice a day, and that their office had been responsible for cleaning them only four weeks previously. The stand-in dentist, Dr Amato, objected to my request not to lie completely horizontal, a position which makes my breathing difficult and thus induces a panic attack, because she claimed, very ungraciously, she would have to stand to do the (single) filling. The periodontist I had recently visited was perfectly capable of doing the necessary work, seated, with my head elevated somewhat, and raised no objection whatever.
Never would I ever recommend going to Dr. Milito's practice if she is happy to have such rude and unpleasant beings to replace her during her absence on maternity leave.

So you know how when you go to a department store to shop for jeans, and then you end up finding a sale and you end up coming home with like 2-3 pairs and they actually fit without you trying too hard?!

That's how i felt after finding Park Dentistry!

I used to think that if I can walk away from a dental visit 1) without drowning in my own spit during a cleaning, 2) without blood stains and plaque facials from them digging into my gums, and 3) without a sore mouth because the dentist thought they could fit their entire hand in my mouth while doing my check up.. I had a good dental visit. But now, my standards are higher after being a Park Dentistry patient.

Miss Brittany, the hygienist, takes her time to make sure that she does everything she can to minimize the pain/discomfort EVERY cleaning ( not just the first one to get you to come back the next time), and you get those nifty glasses to wear so that you don't random droplets of plaque in your eyes.... she consistently checks in to make sure that the sucker thingy isn't stuck to your inner cheek, and numbs your gums before everything cleaning for ease of pain. My toes thank her because they aren't curled and scrunched in my shoe from anxiety.

When it comes to the dentist, Dr Milito can only be blamed for being thorough. On my very first visit, she walked me through the process of checking my teeth, and you get to see it all via a screen that showed me exactly what she's talking about. Of course she'll go over the normal things like cavities, plaque build up and whether I've been a good girl at flossing, but she also points out things like receding gums or funky grinding patterns on my teeth .. all of which are not major issues now but potential future issues that i'll have to deal with down the road if i'm not aware.

Perhaps these are things that other dentists consider as "normal wear and tear teeth issues" and they aren't major issues at the time, but isn't the point of a dentist is oral hygiene and preventive care? It's like going to a doctor who doesn't tell you about the minor cholesterol build up in your arteries you have now because "it's not a major issue now", but you know, .. it only eventually leads to strokes and all.

Anyways, I've been coming to the office now for almost 2 years and have never had a bad visit. My pearly white chompers are still going strong thanks to these ladies, and even though i have to wear a really unsexy nightguard to avoid grinding my teeth at night (per Dr Milito's suggestion), i guess i have the 16 hours of awake time to look good!

Well appointed office with a super professional staff. Most importantly they provide a thorough examination, throughout which they are highly attentive to your comfort.
