When I was a patient at Appalachian Dental I paid all copays at every dental visit including the amount my insurance company and the dental office agreed was due for a partial. Weeks after my partial was received, I was sent a bill showing I owed an additional $500. Over the next 2 years I continued to receive bills despite countless phone calls to their office. In frustration, I went to their office and spoke with the office manager in person to attempt to resolve the discrepancy in the bill. Several weeks later I received a call from her stating the issue of the $500 had been resolved. Shortly thereafter, I received another bill showing I owed $103. I called the office, again, and was told I owed for copays that had not been resolved and with a check for $70 I would be paid in full. Today, I received a bill from a collection agency showing that I owe Appalachian Dental $100...

I had an appointment there at 11 through the VA. They called at around 8:50 and asked if I could come in at 10 as they'd had a cancellation. I told them no. I scheduled the appointment for 11 and I didn't want to rush to go to the earlier appointment. That was the end of the first call. They called back like two minutes later and told me I had to take the 10 or reschedule as someone had a death in the family. So I rescheduled for early March (in about three weeks). I'm sorry someone had a death in the family but one person calling out shouldn't set operations back by weeks nor should that be an inconvenience and such a short notice to the customer. I thought this was unprofessional. If it wasn't through the VA this would make me look elsewhere.

I have been highly impressed with the services I have received in both the Franklin and Asheville offices. I felt cared for and listened to by everyone I saw during my appointment. I was very sad going in about my dental issues, but after receiving much encouragement, proper treatment both short and long term planning, it seemed like there was hope for healing. At no point did I feel as if they cared more about making a profit more than taking care of me. I have some issues with taking medications and they listened patiently and did everything to effectively work around those issues. Also, I appreciated that Dr. Crumley was very careful in my course of treatment, ensuring that we did not perform a procedure before proper healing took place. Thank you all.

I have been a patient of Appalachian Dental for MANY years, but am leaving now that it has changed dentists. I was very dissatisfied with my last visit and specifically Dr. Crumley. I felt like they were "up selling" products and honestly I felt they were using extortion. They refused to do my normal 6 month dental cleaning if I didn't have scaling done first - this would be an additional $80+ per tooth (out of pocket). I refused the scaling so was unable to get my teeth cleaned. Needless to say, I have found another dentist.

All of the staff are respectful and friendly. I've been a patient for 9 years, and the clinical staff have always been competent and treated my issues with concern. They have apologized if running late (just a little) which has been rare. I highly recommend this practice.
