Distinctive Dentistry

Everyone is very friendly. I love how they text and email to remind you of appointments. They are patient and take plenty of time each visit to make you comfortable. If you want a great dentist office make your appointment and tell them I referred you.

Very happy with my new crown. Great people, great service, pleasant environment, and I would add, painless. I was seen and fitted with a temporary crown the same day I call in with a broken tooth. The permanent crown was placed two weeks later. And I was not a previous patient. Can't get better service than that.

When my boyfriend and I first started going to Dr.Gemmel we loved the office. It was a nice office with up to date equipment. But after my first cleaning I started to notice some red flags. They had convinced me I needed a deep cleaning so when I went in for my appointment the hygienist was confused on why I had been slotted for a 2 hour deep cleaning when I really only needed a 30 minute regular cleaning. Next came the fact that they told me I needed a handful of fillings on each side of my mouth. When I asked the hygienist on how quickly she thought I should come in to have it done, she said I could wait years, but the dentist and upfront staff kept pushing me to do it. So I finally did one of the sides of my mouth for $450 out of pocket with my insurance (the bill was $900 for the 4 fillings) and the procedure took 30 minutes. After that I decided to hold off on the other side of my mouth because I had never had cavities and at this point I was becoming skeptical. This year my dental insurance changed so I recently just went to a new dentist. The new dentist told me based on my x-rays and the state of my teeth that I didn't need any work done on the other side of my mouth that Dr.Gemmel's office had said I needed, which would have costed me another $450. In fact, the new dentist showed me that I did not have any cavities to even fill so he wasn't sure why Dr.Gemmel had pushed for more unnecessary work.

So in other words, I honestly left that office feeling scammed. Dr. Gemmel's upfront staff was always very pushy and made the procedures feel necessary, while the hygienists seemed to be honest and contradict the dentist. I'm very happy to be going somewhere else now that is honest with me.

Dr. Gemmell and Dr. Holland are both great dentists who "talk" to you and hear your concerns. It never hurts when I get numbed, and they go above and beyond service even meeting me on Super Bowl Sunday for emergency appointment! Best magazines of any Dr.'s office with daily news-paper as well for when you do have to wait (seldom long). Referral program is also a plus, and all the staff is super professional and personal.

I can't say enough good things about Distinctive Destistry. This a small, family owned kind of a business that delivers really big results. The staff is polite, friendly, courteous and very competent at what they do. But, that is only the half of it. The real story is the world class dentistry that is performed at this dental business every day. I have tried several different dentists over the past 50 years, and I can say without reservation that Robert Gemmell is the best dentist I have ever had. And his chair side manners are every bit as good as his impeccable dentistry. I give Robert Gemmell and Distinctive Dentistry a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend this dentist office to anyone looking for a quality dentist and really good staff.

I have been going to Dr. Gemmel for many years. I am not an easy patient, but he and his staff have been wonderfully patient and professional in dealing with my anxiety. And the dental work they have done has been excellent. I wouldn’t choose to go to anyone else.
