Chester Dental Care - Shwetha Rodrigues DDS

Came across Chester dental. Called and I asked front desk specifically how LANAP works and cost for it via in-network insurance. They told me $4400 and they said we do accept my insurance. I told them I can’t afford the treatment unless it is covered by insurance. They scheduled me for an appt.

At appt day they took X-rays, did perio chart, asked for my history etc. The Dentist Shwetha than tells me I might have: sleep apnea, airway blockage, my bite wasn’t right, 5+ cavities(not true as I just came from my family dentist)…basically everything was wrong with my mouth lol…at this time felt like it was MONEY GRAB(red flag)…I was already regretting my decision to come here. She didn’t even bother to make me understand what X-ray was telling…Only issue I came for was perio gum exam and to confirm if I need laser or not. They asked me to do sleep apnea and airway exam none of which was covered by insurance. I left and asked front desk to just do pre authorization for LANAP: D4260.

A week passes by and I called insurance they said they haven’t received any pre authorization from dentist. I called front desk again and they submit it. Another red flag 🚩. As soon as this is done now I started getting emails with name Rosanna as insured person and not me and would ask me to register for online acc. In the meantime 3-4 weeks pass by and I get letter from insurance with pre auth details. Surprise lol the patient name is Rosanna not me but has all my insurance info in it. I called my employer and insurance they said all is well at their end. Cost charged by dentist is almost double than what they quoted me lol $7688. Another red flag for money grab. If in-network they have to accept based off contracted rate which was $2800 for 4 quads. Insurance said regardless of how they do the surgery if in network they should go by our rate.

Now, I call the front desk to ask details of appt for surgery. I told her about the wrong name and double amount. She said she has no idea why amount is almost double. She does ask me for difference amount which insurance isn’t paying out of $4400 initial quote. I told her I can’t. She said dentist will call you right back to chat. Didn’t get a call until almost 5Pm their closing. I called them again and finally dentist called me back and I already knew by now what the answer was and she said double $$$ amount $7688 on pre auth was correct as that is normal charge without insurance. She said no she won’t do the treatment by contracted rate agreement and I have to pay the difference.

Conclusion?

- LANAP is laser based deep cleaning which goes little further than deep cleaning($1000) but is same concept as Osseous surgery($2800) just different way. Anything more than that $$ is just NOT justified. Not surprised as I don’t see a single google review with LANAP for her practice.
- always thought of doctors as people who save lives but it changed as I grew up. It is purely money making business where they will show problems which you don’t even have. The just want to make big bags $$$, have expensive car and house and live rich life.
- no govt or federal oversight in dental compared to healthcare so insurance companies and dentist do whatever they want with little to no consequences.
- always have all cost communicated upfront, not always possible as most don’t tell you the cost.
- always read negative reviews first and they tell you the real story about dental clinic. Stay away if any red flags. I did see them but ignored them.
- wasted 1 month behind this practice with nothing done
- communication was all over the place about the cost. Felt a bit dishonest.
- Either you can be in network and go by contracted agreement or out of network like many others who are
- My advice for them: Honesty will get your more business and patients NOT up charging or creating fake problems for patients.

HARDCORD MONEY GRAB!!!

The staff at Chester Dental Care were both professional and welcoming during my recent new patient appointment. They listened closely to my concerns and were very thorough and responsive in answering my questions. I'm very glad I found them, and I would recommend them without reservation to anyone looking for good dental care from knowledgeable and friendly professionals.

Everyone from the front desk to the ones that work in the back, they are all very polite. They all ways greet you with a smile. I had to have a tooth pulled, Dr Kennedy was fantastic. It was a totally pain free procedure. I would recommend this office to everyone I know. We are there to stay. Thank you.

Dr. Rodrigues and her entire staff have been saviors to me. I've had significant dental issues and have been able to address those through effective treatment plans designed to fit my budget and abilities while getting the care I need. She has a light touch and always makes sure my comfort is the highest priority. Everyone there has been so nice and helpful it's like going to see friends each time I go. I feel I lucked out in finding this office and I couldn't recommend them any higher than I do.

Great staff from the time I walked in to when I left. Very professional and friendly.

It was my first visit to the dentist in a looong time. I am working out of town and my tooth started giving me a lot of pain. My wife saw this place as we drove by, so she called and made my appointment the next morning. I expected the usual chastising for not coming in sooner, but l was very surprised. The doctor offered me encouragement and told not to give up, in fact the entire staff is very friendly and attentive. I get the procedure this morning and the cost I think, is very reasonable. I will continue to go here as long as I'm in town.

Scam artist. My dentist could not get me in soon enough for tooth pain I had. I spoke with these people and they said they could get the cavity that hurts the worst done (I had multiple), at the very least the same day. I even had the xrays from my old dentist faxed over and paperwork filled out ahead of time so I could be for sure it could get done. They spent 30 minutes of a 45 minute time slot talking about 360 scans and a webinar I should watch to learn about her program. All I needed was to have a cavity done to get out of pain.

Love Chester Dental Care! Dr. Rodrigues & Dr. Kennedy are just wonderful. They give a very personal approach to their patients. They use the latest dental equipment and gives each of their patients the attention they need and deserve. Their staff is very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Chester Dental Care!

Everyone is very polite and they take great care of you. I’ve had a lot of bad experiences and they have restored my faith. I used to dread going to the dentist and now look forward to my appointments. Chester Dental Care is awesome!!!

The staff was very welcoming and professional! The receptionist greeted me immediately and explained what they would be doing as this was my first appointment. The hygienist introduced herself and was very pleasant as she did my x-rays. Dr. Rodriguez took time to explain what my next appointment would involve and put my mind st ease. I definitely recommend the Chester Dental Care!
