Vestavia Family Dentistry & Facial Aesthetics

BEWARE! Initially, I thought this was a good dentistry however that view has changed. While the Dr. Pruitt and his staff are friendly, the whole experience is very impersonal. They don't explain what's going on as they perform procedures yet they seem to have a good conversations among themselves. And while I love dogs, I don’t want them in the room while I’m having major work done. Update: a friend told me that according to their Facebook page (formerly Vestavia Family Dentistry) they’ve recently had the dog certified as an emotional support dog so I guess it would be legal to have it in the office while work is being done.

However, to be in pain and have issues after a procedure considering you had none before is unbelievable. I thought Dr. Pruitt cared about his patients dental health but now I know it's about the money and training his students. Patient heath and well-being be damned! After trying this place I read other reviews calling this doctor a scam artist who pushes crowns and thousands of dollars worth unnecessary procedures. Wish that I had read these reviews before ever going. Smh!

Great service and professional and friendly staff. I received a brand new smile through the help of Dr. Pruitt and his dental staff. Also, the setting was clean and relaxing. I would recommend this dental office again and again.

I really appreciate the dentist and his team with my extractions yesterday. Even with how bad my teeth looked the dentist came up with a affordable treatment plan and even worked with my finances due to my insurance not covering the whole procedure. My visit was safe and painless I really appreciate his teams patience and I can’t wait to finish the rest of my plan so I can smile again.

I, along with my whole family, have been going to Vestavia Family Dentistry for many, many years. I have been totally please with the services and attention we have gotten while in Dr. Pruitt care. He is attentive and detailed in making sure you understand any dental issues that may be going on with video and pictures at times. The assistants are always nice and gentle with routine cleanings. I would recommend them highly.

Beware!! This place is an absolute scam.. They act nice to get you in the chair, and then try to tell you you need thousands of dollars of dental work. I was told I needed $12,000 worth of work done to my teeth-many fillings, crowns, etc. I left in tears and luckily found a reliable second opinion who fixed everything in my mouth and more for about 5% of what Dr. Pruitt's office estimated. With the advertising etc. in the waiting room, it seems they are more focused on facial aesthetics and pricy injectables than really assisting people with their dental concerns.

First I HAVE to say that I love Dr. Pruitt! He is thorough, personable, caring, experienced; loves what he does and does it well! I highly recommend him and cannot think of anyone else that I would refer someone to for for top notch dental work. Trust me when I say he is the best!

I have been working with Dr Pruitt for about 7 years as I have needed thousands of $ of dental work, mostly root canals. I had a fear of dentists and neglected my teeth to the degree that they were almost beyond repair. I also didn't have permanent teeth under 3 baby teeth so I needed a lot of work and dealt with an enormous amount of pain.
Dr Pruitt knew that funds were fairly limited considering I am a single mother of three living in Vestavia with two about to attend Alabama. As a result, they worked with me in various ways to address my issues. Firstly, crowns were done on the MOST critical teeth while other, more temporary treatments were done to ensure the pain was eliminated, the infection removed and my teeth looked great. This went on for a while as I could continue to afford the necessary permanent work which occurred in phases.
He addressed the fear of dentists by making me as comfortable as I could be with the tools they had available. He is also the only dentist that has never hurt me.
The prices are definitely a little higher than some other dentists but I am willing to pay it for what he is able to do cosmetically, while ensuring I do not experience pain. Had I had done what I needed to the first time I walked in, it would've cost $17k plus, regardless of who I used. Dr Pruitt has changed my life as far as self esteem and now I am no longer scared to smile and laugh freely without putting my hand over my mouth.
I'm still working through the the next phase of work necessary but I will never use another dentist other than Dr Pruitt. I also find their staff to go above and beyond to help with my fear of being at the dentist, among other things. Once I finish the the entire process, I'll post an "after" photo.
I believe the negative post is probably more the exception and definitely is something I have never experienced. I strongly encourage anyone to go see Dr Pruitt. Not just because of his near perfection work cosmetically, but the fact that people should consider if they are waiting an extra few minutes, that he might be helping someone like me. I guarantee there are other dentist that would have just not cared and would've started pulling teeth because all they would've cared about was money and the lack thereof at that time. He cared about saving my teeth while getting rid of pain.

Dr. Pruitt is awesome! He was friendly, fast, knowledgeable and most of all very accurate in implementing what I wanted my smile to look like.
