I visit the Boulder office and it is consistently a good experience. Friendly people, quality service and a pleasant atmosphere make it an easy choice. Marion is a jewel; she always makes a routine cleaning as fun as it can be (-:

The staff at Sage Dental was friendly and professional. I appreciated Dr. Broda giving me the scoop on how to best handle a couple of treatment options that will need to take place in the future. Two thumbs up!

I really wanted to have a good experience with this company, but unfortunately that was not the case. During my first visit earlier this year, they took x-rays and found that I had one cavity. They also suggested replacing some old fillings because they were "going bad," even though I had no issues with them. I felt comfortable with having the one cavity filled so I agreed to have that procedure done and scheduled an appointment. I had a bad feeling about replacing my other fillings, and I wish I had stuck to my gut. I ended up changing my appointment to have both the cavity filled and the other two fillings replaced.
Right after the numbing wore off, I could feel something like a small crack on the back of one of the teeth where the filling was replaced. I thought it was just leftover resin so I ignored it. I admit fault in not pursuing it further, but I have a pretty intense fear of the dentist. My two teeth that had the fillings replaced continued to feel sensitive through the next month, until it accumulated to a Saturday where I experienced some of the worst pain of my life.
I was miserable Saturday and Sunday nights, with what I now know was a severely infected tooth (the one that was cracked by Sage Dentistry). I scheduled an appointment with them on Monday and they got me in later that day. I will confirm with some other reviews- the dentists at Sage did not care to figure out what the issue was and were very quick to refer me out. I get it, there are specialists, but they didn't even try. I asked if the tooth was cracked like I suspected, but the dentist avoided answering. They just found an available endo to refer me to, prescribed me some pain meds that didn't help, and sent me on my way.
Went to the referred Endo the next morning and discovered that they didn't even take my insurance (even though Sage receptionist said they did). Meanwhile I'm crying in public because my intense pain and no relief in sight. I found another available Endo for later that day an hour away. They were amazing and I am so thankful that they were able to relieve my pain.
I thought that the worst was over, but a couple of weeks later, the second filling that Sage replaced got infected. The second was worse (and happened over the weekend again) so I ended up traveling to Denver to an emergency dentist, got sent to the ER because I was in so much pain (couldn't stop throwing up, really weak, close to passing out). My first time ever to the ER, and it was for dental pain. I honestly think that the doctors suspected that I was drug seeking and I don't blame them, but it was humiliating. Was given an IV for pain and fluids (also another first, I've never had an IV). It was truly a nightmare. Went back to the ER dentist and he ran simple air tests, confirmed a second infected tooth, and gave me medication that worked to get me through the next couple of days so that I could go back to my Endo. Had my second root canal done and still need to have my crowns done.
Total for all of this came to over $3000 ($1000 max covered by my insurance, over $2000 out of pocket). I am trying to hold off on my crowns because I can't afford to pay it all out of pocket. This includes the $200+ that I spent for my unnecessary and burdensome fillings that Sage advised me to have done. I missed many days of work and my fear of the dentist was strongly reinforced.
Sage would never take the blame for any of this, as I know that they don't want to lose money, but I just want others to be aware of this, in case Sage suggests something that may be unnecessary and could really mess up your life. If you have a bad feeling about something, it's probably justified and could be worth getting a second opinion. Hope this review helps someone.

Small office, but very good dentistry!
I've been going here for ~4 years now, ever since moving outside of the Boulder Bubble. Latest work done by Dr. Kammer was simply superb. This particular filling had been put in in the most painful dental experience I had ever had (by a flashy cosmetic dentist in Boulder), and so I went in expecting this replacement work to be difficult. Not so! Calm and methodical work, along with good humor kept the stress very low. The process wasn't painful at all and the new filling is feeling great.
So far the co-pays have been very reasonable, too. Sometimes I think their front office staff is a bit harried as they juggle dealing with insurance agencies, patient bookings, etc but overall the whole office seems professional and committed to quality tooth care.

Dr. Batliner saved me thousands of dollars when I went to him for a 2nd opinion. He told me I didn't need a root canal & gave me a filling. I'm very impressed with the honesty and professionalism of everyone who works at Sage Dental. Highly recommended.

With several athletic kids my family has experienced several major dental accidents and just as easy as a cleaning we have been provided the very best care and provoded wonderdul referrals to orthodontists when needed. My kids LOVE going to the dentist despite all they have been thru...no movies or toys were needed either. So long as I live in Boulder County they will be our dentist.
