Normally... my appointments at the dentist are professional and smoothly run. This time, however, as the appointment began, I was handed a cup and told, “Please rinse with this for a minute before we start.” As I sipped the small amount of liquid and began to swirl it around in my mouth, wondering whether it was mouthwash or something, I suddenly realized that they had given me a mixture of hydrogen peroxide mixed with some bleach. Bleach. I was given bleach to rinse in my mouth without any discussion or warning. Not a word. I don’t know if I’ll be going back. Not a big fan of bleach in my mouth or being given stuff without warning or consent.
