The McHenry Dentist

This place was good in the past. On Thursday 1/29/22, I made an appointment for my daughter who was an established patient. I have new insurance, and updated the information with the receptionist upon making the Saturday appointment. I go in for the appointment, and the receptionist said there is no record of the appointment, and they can't call to verify the NEW Insurance on the weekend, because they are closed.
Well if the appointment was never set, how do you know I have new insurance? Do I want to set a new appointment? Lol seriously?

Left 3 messages to set up an appointment. Staff responded after 4th connection try. Worst experience. No compassion at all, especially the dentist. He admitted several times (when asked) that he will not do simple extraction at this appointment (which was set up specifically for that purpose at 12:30PM) because he is overbooked (in his words: "I don't have time"). He will not guarantee extraction because of pain even the next day. Wanted to do a root canal instead with prolonging the pain and suffering "for minimum 8 days" - he said. Suggested by him root canal treatment would not come this or the next day (he is overbooked) he said. I asked him to wash his hands before he touches my face. He did reluctantly then dried them briefly with a paper towel and finally, he rubbed his hands several times over his filthy pants.

I feel great after having my first visit. Within about two hours my teeth were cleaned, x-rayed, a plan written and a mode made to build a 4 tooth temporary removeable bridge, then a return in 3 weeks to receive it and have 4 teeth removed to later receive a 4 tooth permanent bridge after a 5 week wait! Lots done in two hours time!

My first time there was a little rushed and not to informative as to what was being done. The the cleaning wasn’t as thorough. It was more like a basic cleaning that I paid extra for that wasn’t worth the money. I was talking to my husband about going back to our previous dentist because they were a lot more thorough and actually told us how to care for our teeth after our visit. However, my follow up appointment was awesome. Feonia was very thorough and informative. She took her time and told me exactly what she was doing and why. She advised me on how to do after care at home. I’m only requesting her for my and my family’s visits moving forward.

My youngest son is terrified of the dentist. When we first started going here, they made us feel welcome and comfortable. He allowed them to pull teeth and he didn't even realize that he was being stuck with a needle ! I recommend the mchenry dentist to everyone I see looking for a good family dentist office !

I walked into this place in pain but it was manageable. I sat down and the dentist ran thru the preliminaries. They took the x ray and I showed her my problem tooth. We got the extraction under way and she began to twist the tooth. Now mind you I’m in pain. So I’m tensing up but nothing unusual. She’s saying relax or she won’t be able to do it. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have stopped right there. I’m not going to be able to go limp and if that’s what she needed to work then I needed someone else to do it. Instead she continues then breaks the tooth leaving the root tip and an exposed nerve. I have to see an oral surgeon now. The part that gets to me is I’ve had numerous teeth pulled and I’ve never had this issue before. So when she left the root tip the infection inside my gum began to pool up and bubble the skin under my tongue and outside the root tip. I was in the most excruciating pain I’ve ever been in in my entire life. Not once did anyone stop to say are you okay? How are you feeling? Are you in pain? Nothing. When I left I was hurting so bad that I could not talk, I bumped two kids out of the way by accident and I literally cried the entire drive home. I had to go to the emergency room and they normally don’t do anything for tooth pain. But being that I was visibly shaking and my blood pressure was 220/117 they took pity on me and gave me two shots of dilaudid in an IV!!! They don’t do that in just any situation trust and believe me when I say this. I’m summarizing I would just like to say that this may be a great office. I don’t know. But what I do know is the experience I had, I would not wish on ANYONE. And to be dismissed without so much as an extra gauze was the icing on what I would call a hellish visit to the dentist. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

It is very clean, well organized, the Staff is incredibly super nice & helpful.

I am currently, in a very long process, getting Dentures, since December 2020 till today, picking them up, October 5. I'm so excited!

I have been treated so caring, while I was having a good amount of teeth extracted.

I suffer from panic disorder & social anxiety. I was so so nervous when I made my appointment here. When I walked in, I immediately felt calm and relief. Everyone was so nice, the whole office is extremely clean. They're taking every safety precautions.The dentist, & assistant were so nice. Answered all my questions. For an office that accepts medicaid, I am very impressed with this office. It's not run down, it's very nice. I'd recommend to anyone. They also helped get some dental work approved through my insurance. Love this place.

Service was prompt and professional, but with a friendly, conversational atmosphere that made us feel comfortable. I was pleased that they were able to accommodate my my daughter's and my schedule on the visit and the follow-up, so that we could be seen at the same time and at a time convenient for us. On the drive home, my daughter talked about how friendly the dentist was. When you get positive conversation from your preteen on the way home from the dentist's office, you know they're doing something right!

Dr. Bhow is wonderful, the staff are very friendly. The office is clean and the ease of scheduling an appointment is great. Very pleased.
