I have had pretty good luck with them after changing to here from another dentist. The dentist and staff have been good to work with, the billing department is another story. I specifically told them my dental insurance changed, they copied my card and everything. After an expensive job, I paid what I was told to pay, and they sent the rest of the bill to my old insurance, needless to say I get a bill in the mail saying insurance denied and the bill I was to pay. It work my butt off paying my bills, it is more than a little frustrating when the billing departmemt screws up and bills me for even more.

Dr. Walker takes his time with you and makes you feel comfortable. He is gentle and I have always had a pain free experience. He finds ways to relate to you and be more personable, and I love that. When I have had urgent needs, the staff at FID are always eager to get me the treatment I need.

If you are a young college student and need a dentist, go across the street from this place. My 22 year old son got his front tooth knocked out and went there for help. They got him out of pain and pulled the nerve out of the broken tooth, but then strung him along for over two weeks and wouldn't even give him an appointment to get it fixed permanently. And that was after he had paid them for half of the proposed treatment plan - over $1400, which they were quick to accept, but slow to return when he went in to get his money back. He went across the street and got it taken care of the next day. Giving them one star only because it won't let me post if I don't.

I went here for a cavity pain emergency. Called them and they told me to come in. Came in and they told me they accepted my Cigna Dental PPO insurance (which should’ve covered the emergency in full). They cleaned it out and put a temp filling in it until I can schedule to come back for the rest. They said I needed a root canal, filling, and a crown. However, the whole time they’re treating me, they kept bringing up the words like, “cost, payment, payment plan, financing” constantly. They haven’t started my treatment when they quickly went over the costs which was a lot more than it should’ve been even after insurance. I know some places give you a heads up on costs, but their way of doing it was, “Here’s the total cost of everything you need aaannnd pay us now!” It felt like being in a car dealership surrounded by hungry salesman sharks than being in a family friendly dentistry. After all the work they did (which wasn’t much) they were basically pressuring me to schedule to come back for the rest of the work. I knew they were trying to rob me with the cost they gave, so I already made up my mind that I would go somewhere else to get the rest of the work done (as I did go somewhere else and had the rest of it done for way way WAY cheaper than what this place offered). I informed them that I wouldn’t be able to make an app until after I got back from my trip I was taking. I was going to leave in a few days out of the states for a month. They wouldn’t take “no” for an answer, so then they tried to scare me into making an app ASAP before I left for my trip because they stated the temp filling wouldn’t last a week and I would develop an infection. I already researched and found that with proper care, temp fillings can last 1-3 months without developing infections or other issues. I confirmed this with another actual dentist. I didn’t tell them this because I didn’t want them spouting anymore bs than they already have. After all that I was on my out when they told me I had to pay. I got confused because I thought my insurance would pay in full, but according to the dentistry, I had to pay a certain amount and insurance would cover the rest. It was only $42 so I just paid it without a fuss. I continued with daily life, went on my trip, had the rest of the treatment done somewhere else and ect. I thought it was the end of it. 3 months after my trip and after I went somewhere else to get the rest of the work done, I got a bill in the mail from the dentistry stating I owed money for the emergency I had with an upcharged penalty late fee. Again I got confused because from what I knew, my insurance had already paid the claim in full and I had proof from the insurance company that they did. I called the dentistry thinking it was just a mistake and they would correct it on the spot. NOPE! As soon as I told them who I was, they told me instantly that insurance denied my claim without even making an effort to look anything up to see if it was a mistake. All I got was a shrug and was basically told “Oh well. You need to contact your insurance.” So I did and my insurance told me they did pay my claim in full, but for some reason the dentistry duplicated the claim and that’s the one they denied. The dentistry filed duplicate claims and charged me twice! My insurance also told me I never had to pay the $42 or anything out of pocket in the first place because I was covered 100% and the dentistry should’ve contacted me long ago because I was to be reimbursed the $42. The dentistry has my phone #, email, and mailing address, and they NEVER ONCE contacted me besides mailing me an upcharged bill I didn’t even owe 4 MONTHS AFTER my treatment. I was ripped off and the dentistry basically stole from me! The insurance contacted the dentistry and got everything resolved and got my $42 back. Really ridiculous that my insurance company & I had to do the dentistry’s work for them and that they were so dishonest! They’re sneaky, dishonest, lazy, and very unprofessional. Their thing about keeping costs low and being fair is a bunch of bs! Do NOT go here!

When we moved "back" to Manhattan in 2001, I immediately set out to find a good dentist and luckily hit upon Family and Implant Dentistry. Since than I have been very happy with the work, the advice, the professionalism, and the friendlness of all the professional and office staff there. There's a reason why it has been voted the best dentist in Manhattan for the last three years in the local newspaper poll of best businesses in the city.

Excellent customer service, I called in to see about a new patient appointment, and turns out they aren't in network on my insurance. Woman on the phone (I believe her name was Britney) went above and beyond, called my insurance company for me and found out exactly how much it would be out of pocket, and was extremely understanding and informative.

I developed a terrible toothache and had called around 15 places that had no available time to see me until the next week. They got me right in! (I had to travel an hour, but was fine with that)! I was given some powerful antibiotics, and pain medication. It hurt so bad I couldn't sleep and I was extreamly nauseated. I was able to sleep that night and the pain was almost gone by the next afternoon. I highly recommend them! And if you're afraid of the dentist...this is a good place to go. You're surrounded by kind, compassionate and understanding people from the second you walk in the door.

Slowly becoming very disillusioned with this office. At first glance they are very friendly and professional. However... A few weeks ago after having a few teeth extracted, I needed to pick up a different prescription that was waiting for me at the office. On a day their hours were posted as open until 6pm, I arrived at 5:40pm to find all the doors locked and phones off. I had to snag somebody coming out the side door at 5:45 to get my script from inside.

This week, I had a tooth medicated earlier in the week, and today am dealing with intense pain in that tooth. I figured I'd call the office and see if I should be concerned. It is a Friday and they close at 4pm. As of 1:30pm, the phones to their office are shut off and an answering machine picks up stating they are closed.

NOT Happy. Will most likely be on the hunt for a new dentist that can actually hold to their office hours.
