I have been with this dental office for several years now and trust them implicitly. I have had to have many dental procedures and this office now "looks after me" and makes sure that I "do my homework" to sustain my dental health. Last visit was just as good as ever - I went for a routine cleaning. They performed X rays ( I need them every 5 years) and found something that needs attention - before it becomes a bigger problem.
I would not go anywhere else!

TLDR: Dentist and assistants were excellent; billing and reception staff were a horror show of incompetence and poor attitude.

I went to Dental Partners of Brookline for the first and only time in August 2018. I found Dr. Langton friendly and effective, he did an excellent job on a minor filling, and the hygienist and other dental staff were very impressive. Given the convenience of the practice location for me, I felt encouraged that I had found a regular dentist.

However, I already had what turned out to be a very bad sign when I arrived for the appointment and the reception staff were unable to verify my insurance coverage. I was prepared for some confusion, as my medical and dental plans have the same card and ID number, which is a bit unusual. But I was surprised that they said they had called the company and could not get confirmation that I was enrolled. Slightly concerned, but sure the matter could easily be resolved, I agreed to pay my $946 bill up front. If I had known what I would be subjected to afterwards, I would have walked straight out.

A few days after the appointment, I returned to the office with a ream of information about my insurance plan. I was told that with all of this, there should be no problem submitting the claim, but that they would call me if anything was the matter.

About a week later, I had an uneasy feeling about the situation (being out a grand will do that), so I phoned the practice. Is everything all right? No, it turns out that everything is not all right. The insurance coordinator phoned the insurance company and didn't understand what she was told about how she was supposed to file the claim. So she gave up. Excuse me, what? You heard me: she gave up. We wash our hands of you. If you want your money back, it's your problem. And no, we don't consider it the responsibility of medical billing professionals to file insurance claims on behalf of their patients. Was anybody ever going to tell me that there was a problem, if I hadn't called to ask? This woman actually told me that making this one single phone call to the insurance company on my behalf (having spent, remember, $946 in her office) was "going above and beyond." When I suggested otherwise (with not one tenth of the rage I was feeling), she hung up.

Fast forward nearly two more weeks later. By this point I have made about five calls of my own to my insurance company (and, by the way, my experience was that even their phone robot knew who I was every time, and I found no sign of the mysteries that completely befuddled the office staff at Dental Partners of Brookline, who supposedly do this for a living), and their representatives have phoned the practice on my behalf to talk them through filing the claim several times. Still they have failed to do this.

Finally, completely fed to the teeth with this whole business, I go back to the practice and announce that I will spend my day sitting in reception until I have verified that the claim has been filed. Finally this is done, but not before (to provide a flavor) she offers me the priceless comment, "[one of the largest insurance companies in North America] must have more than one phone number." I suppose they must. At least I have seen with my own eyes the fax being sent, and I can leave with the knowledge that I should never have to deal with this person again.

This is all a great shame, because as I said far far above, I really liked Dr. Langton. He was excellent, and I was very impressed by the whole treatment side of the practice. Unfortunately, they could not have been more let down by the clown car cavalcade in the front office. It really is impossible for me fully to convey how unhelpful and unimpressive these people were, or how unhappy they made me.

It is out of genuine appreciation and reflection that I have decided to share my noteworthy experience after visiting Dental Partners of Brookline for a cleaning and most recently a root canal. Dr. Al-Adeeb made me feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment I was seated in my chair. She instructed me on what needed to be done and how she was going to proceed. When I learned that I needed a root canal I was initially worried about the discomfort and pain. Within minutes she put that to rest and within an hour or so completed the procedure with the most natural of ease and confidence. Highly recommended!!! Dental Partners of Brookline is truly an exceptional place. Their customer service and care, from scheduling appointments to financing is top-notch.
