Timberhill Dental - Corvallis

I confess, I am a dental scaredy cat. Anne is so gentle on my routine cleaning and makes me feel at ease when I go. Dr. Black does a thorough and careful exam, and has a very good chairside manner. My kids have been going to Dr. Black since they were little, like him a lot, and do not worry or dread going. Anne and Marie are both great with kids. Great coordination of appts with orthodontist to get the kids teeth cleaned while the wires are off. The front office staff is very helpful and friendly. Jackie always greets us with a smile. Would not hesitate to recommend this office!

I do not mind going to the dentist and that’s saying a lot. Everyone is friendly, organized and efficient at their work. I’m glad to have a local dental office that my whole family loves. Kids actually enjoy their visits. 🌈 highly recommend.

I felt I needed to post this review to warn others of the practices of this office.

Let me start out by saying I hadn't been to a dentist in many years as my previous long time dentist had retired. Because of this, I needed a number of things done to "catch up" on my dental care. I went in for an initial exam with Dr Black's office including full X-rays resulting in suggestions of items that needed done and a line item list of costs. Sure, I hadn't been to a dentist in quite some time, but the numbers seemed quite high. Also, the services needed warranted a second opinion anyway as I wasn't so sure about them. I just felt funny as a result of the visit...

I then inquired some more at many other offices and found out that Dr Black's rates were consistently between ***** 40% and 120% HIGHER *****!!!! After a few more calls I was told that there is a "Oregon standard pricing" that about 90% of Dentists in the state follow or use as a guide. Dr Black's office is NOT ONE OF THEM! In addition to this, they have some kind of proprietary "insurance" they offer that is only good in their office????? Hhmmmmm, you have to wonder about that one?

I also had some services on that list that another dentist could not justify or even see why he was going to work on a particular tooth. I feel that Dr Black's exam and suggestions were rushed and "sold".

Summary; this office is not a "bad" office if you have really good insurance which few do anymore... AND you only need basic services that don't warrant second opinions. As others have said, they have a very modern office with all the latest stuff, but the cost is over the top if you compare to other dental providers. 1.4 to 2.2 times over the average cost is NOT a FAIR practice.

I was being "sold" on the questionable "payment plan - proprietary ins" thing. I was seriously overcharged for my X-rays and exam. I was sold on services I didn't need. I will never go back to this office!

I feel a little sheepish admitting that I actually LIKE going to the dentist at Dr. Black's office. My mother is a dental hygienist, and I have been to several dentists. Dr. Black's office is different from all the others I have been to. It is a feeling of good people who want to work there and an attention to the little details that make you feel comfortable and special. In addition to doing top quality dental work, there's the parafin hand dip, the gurgling fountain in the entry room, the cookies and foamy cappuccino after the visit. Mostly though, it is the people that make the difference. Dr. Black is a dentist you actually want to see to talk to and laugh with. Anne the hygienist is my favorite. I can talk to her about anything. I have known her for a long time and I keep coming back! Dr. Black's office is the only dentist office for me.

I was not looking forward to this morning's 2+ hour visit to Timberhill Dental. But, happily, my expectations were not realized and the whole process of getting two new crowns and one filling was surprisingly easy. Tina's kind manner put me at ease and Dr. Black, using his skill and amazing technological tools, repaired the teeth painlessly and quite quickly. Actually, a fair bit of the time was spent relaxing and watching HGTV while some computer cranked out the two perfectly fitting crowns.

Top of their game. I have seen dentists up and down the west coast and dr. Black and crew are certainly the best of the best. Seriously, when other dentist see the work that doctor black has done in my mouth they all are amazed by the exceptional quality.
My teeth are important to me and dollar-for-dollar dr. Black is the best investment that I've ever made.

Great service, professional, very customer conscious including safety protocols. They always go the extra mile to recognize personal details (I.e. from last visit or asking about other family members). Just a good group of folks, from the dentists to the frontline staff. Thank you for a delightful visit!

Timberhill Dental provides the best possible service. On top of providing great service the staff is always pleasant and friendly and they host an annual pool party for their clients. I always look forward to my appointment with Ann!

I have loved every experience I've had at Timberhill Dental! The staff are all amazing and so friendly! I look forward to my 6 month check-ups just so I can chat with Anne, my hygienist :) I highly recommend Dr. Black and his team - great people!

Dr. Black and his team are soothing and down to earth professionals in a warm, welcoming and comfortable space. There is nothing artificial, nor over-caffeinated about the personnel or the practice. One gets a sense of professional competency without the hubris that often accompanies a successful practice. Dr. Black himself presents as a careful, thoughtful practitioner with a sensitivity to his patent's comfort and aesthetic. As a craftsman (or dental artist, one might say), he is gifted. His calm, gentle manner puts patients at ease; even those who are conditioned by prior dental experience to finding their hands balled into tight fists! I found as my extensive procedures progressed that my hands relaxed and my shoulders dropped whilst the drilling and filling occurred, not an easy balance to strike in dentistry. Each and every individual in the practice seems to be thoughtful, warm and accommodating. I feel fortunate indeed to be in their hands, thank you Timberhill Dental :)
