If it was possible to give 0 out of 5 stars, I would. I’ve struggled months deciding to write this but finally decided to do it. Here’s the story: I had a dental insurance that I thought had ended the year before (2017) but got a letter in the middle of September 2018 saying that it actually ended at the end of October 2018. As I needed work done I hurried to make an appointment. My dentist I usually go to retired and so I chose Young Family Dental because I was referred and heard it was spoken highly of. I have a unique mouth with lots of problems. As a kid I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that causes me to not have adult teeth under my baby teeth, so when my baby teeth fall out naturally, there is nothing to take it’s place. And since there isn’t enough bone density in my mouth to support the teeth I do have, they are slowly dying and rotting out. I had a lot of cavities in response. I have spent thousands on posts and veneers trying to rectify this. Since I first got there for my appointment I was treated with disgust. I am young, and no doubt they thought I was a drug addict that didn’t take care of their teeth and I was treated accordingly. I left crying after my first visit because i was treated with such contempt. I am also very shy and not outspoken and didn’t know what to do, so I put my fate in their hands but i shouldn’t have. No one asked me questions about my history, no one asked to see a copy of my records, no one took the time to figure out what was going on. I had to schedule 2 separate appointments to get all the work done. They were all hectic and nobody seemed to understand what they were doing. The hygienist had me sign the waiver AFTER I had already got the work done - no doubt they forgot about it. I had explained that I was on a time limit with my insurance and they assured me they’d get it taken care of. They just wanted to fill the cavities and go, which would have been fine with me, if they had communicated with each other and realized that I needed a cap and no one made sure to get my imprints until my second visit - a WEEK before my insurance ended so it wasn’t ready in time. They called me after my insurance ended telling me to come in, but I am a waiter in a restaurant and do not have the money at my expense like that. So I was left with a gaping hole in my tooth that has been aching ever since. The work they did on my front teeth is botched and noticeable that i don’t even like smiling anymore because you can obviously see it. I really trusted this place but even the cavities they did fill are causing me blinding pain, and over the counter pain medicine has stopped working, and it makes me wonder what kind of job they did. I am in pain every single day and I blame part of it on Young Family Dental in Riverton for doing a halfassed job on a nonimportant kid who didn’t know how to speak up for themselves. I wouldn’t trust this place with anything more than a cleaning.

It was GREAT!! Sadly it has been a few years since my last visit and they were so great. No judgement. They were quick and very thorough. They got me in the same day!!! I'm a person who HATES the dentist and I felt very at ease!!

I always have a great experience at Young Family Dental. My family has come here for several years. They have an incredibly professional staff. I've enjoyed working with Dr. Workman, Tammy, and Makayla at the Riverton location.

I visited Young Family Dental in Riverton as a new patient looking to get a new retainer after mine had broken. There was misdirection and poor communication from the reception staff as they ended up fitting me and giving me the wrong kind of retainer. I did not once get a direct answer of "We do not make wire retainers" until after they had given me the wrong thing and set up my invoice to pay. I feel incredibly misled and unheard. Poor communication and zero help getting what I needed. Will not recommend.

I loved my expierence here. the staff is fantastic and really took great care of my kids. Dr Young was Great with my kids and explained everyting we needed done. They have a camera that takes pictures of your teeth so i could see the things we need done as well as another device to help diagnose cavities while they are small

There was a response from the owners to my review from 10 months ago (below). I cant get into the account I posted on. It should be on this account anyway and I'm responding. If I could give a negative rating I would.
Yes we did go to your office young family dental in Riverton Utah. It was meant for you. We are a mixed family with more than one last name. I can tell you it was my maiden name and my legal first name. I go by Roxy. If you wanted names all you had to do was ask. To this day my son still gets pain from one of the shots. Unless your planning to make things right for what your office unnecessarily did to my son. You dont need any of our names. Are you planning to make things right? I still haven't had a cavity show up after I was told I had one. Your office should be investigated for multiple things. I've often wondered if I should do something about what happened to my son. Who wants to get things "fixed" that dont really need to be fixed. Very crooked business.
Response from the owner-
After extensive research we have been unable to locate any patients under this last name which fit this criteria. We believe you may have inadvertently posted this review to the wrong dental office.
1st post-
STAY AWAY! This place is horrible! I wish I never took me family here. They said my son had 4 cavities. It was all 4 back molars. He ended up getting 4 unnecessary shots. When he got one of his shots he told her he was getting pain in his ear. She said I'm not even close to your ear. I guess she doesn't know what nerves are. Its been over a year and my son is still getting pain in his ear. They said me and my husband both needed a deep clean we didn't need refusing to give us the basic cleaning. They said I had a cavity I didn't have. You cant have one dentist take care of everything. Dentist will refuse to do what they dont like. "This dentist hates working on back top molars. Only 1 dentist will work on these ones. The only day you would be able to fix that tooth is Friday. He's not here any other day of the week." So my husband would have to miss work. That's one example. They didn't clean my younger children's teeth at all. I brush my daughters teeth at home longer than she did. She didn't even do the cleaning. Then I start receiving papers in the mail from my insurance for every person in my family. It says the company wanted to charge to much. The company had to agree to a lower price with the insurance. That they weren't allowed to try to bill me the difference. My son ended up with silver instead of white when they fixed his "cavities" because the pricing was so bad. Any other dentist would have been covered. We didn't go back to finish what they wanted us to finish because there were so many things not adding up. We went to our trusted dentist. He said we didn't need all that work done. My poor son is traumatized to this day from his shots. My children have never had cavities. I've only had one cavity and I'm in my 30's. But the first time we go to them we need all this work done like we have the worst teeth. I dont care how far away our dentist is. I will drive out of my way to go to a good dentist. Anything to stay away from an office like this! I've never experienced a bad dental office till we went here. I'm glad we have a large family. It made it easy to see there was a lot not adding up. I just wish I knew before they caused permanent damage to my sons 4 molars!!!

I went in for a routine cleaning and they had me update some paperwork. I had some concerns over signing a cancellation policy because we've had issues with their confirmation process which resulted in our appointments getting cancelled when they were sending notifications to the wrong number despite us calling to fix it. Long story short, I did not feel comfortable signing something to give permission to charge us for these instances. After asking for clarification, and if I had to sign it to be a patient, the assistant had a woman come in to speak with me who was incredibly rude about it and made me feel like I was being completely out-of-line for questioning, which they admitted, was a poorly written piece of paperwork. I'm pregnant, so of course I'm trying not to cry. I definitely didn't feel comfortable having people who felt that way towards me work in my mouth, so I left. It was embarrassing, and unnecessarily rude. I give it two stars because there was one very nice employee who showed genuine concern on my behalf.

Today my son and I came in for our appointments and had the best time. My son has a hard time at the dentist but was put totally at ease by Makayla.
She was so professional al and funny he is excited about coming ca j to get his work done -shots and all. Dr. Pung was superb. He was patient, attentive, and I have to say I learned a thing or two. So happy they’re just a few minutes from home. Will definitely be back.
