I was a little skeptical about going but I'm so glad I did. My student dentist, Undine Davis, was very kind, patient, and professional. She explained everything to me and even did some routine dental procedures my hometown dentist has never done. I was there for 4 hours but none of my time was wasted. She was thorough with my consultation and I'm looking forward to returning for my next procedure. I highly recommend UAB school of dentistry and hope to be a patient of Mrs. Davis one day

I know how important these medical reviews are so I'll try to be as accurate and nice as possible.
I took my wife here to get the $80 evaluation and a second opinion on $7,000 worth of work from my local periodontist. We left 3 hours later with little to no information. They suggested we come back and visit the different specialties practiced. They wouldn't even consider looking over the X-rays or records we brought with us. The place and inexperienced students really gave us an uneasy feeling. It has a clinic style atmosphere with the majority of patients being elderly, disabled and very low income.
I understand that these are young students and looking at some of the reviews here there are mistakes that have been made, some serious. If you don't have insurance this may be a risk worth taking but for us it's not.

My experience with the Orthodontist department has been great. They are very friendly and made having braces easy and enjoyable! I would recommend them to anybody!

I have been going through the process of receiving temporary dentures and dental implants for 14 months. I have been put off time after time with rescheduling as my mouth pain continues to make my life a living hell. I am extremely disappointed with the prosthodontics department, but the oral surgeon has been understanding. I've been promised my temporary dentures again, yet here I am facing a three day weekend in pain. My advice is to document all conversations and correspondence with UAB School of Dentistry.

Patients beware! This is a fraud, cheating facility that patient should never go!!!
I went there for a tooth cleaning. My dental insurance has 100% coverage for tooth cleaning and scaling. However, after the scaling (measuring the depth of the gum), they did NOT clean my teeth. Instead they made an appointment at a different time for a "deep cleaning". They charged $1,000 for it and I rejected the appointment right away. However, they charged this un-done tooth cleaning with only scaling " parlodontal evaluation" and charged the insurance company $100 and $30 copay to me while they should only charge the insurance company a "scaling" and $0 to me. This is a fraud facility and patient should never go there for your dental!

My children’s orthodontist and orthodontic students get five stars which is the only reason they got more than one star review. Their billing department are the most incompetent people on the planet. They have a owed me a partial refund for both of my children for well over a year (due to BCBS process of having to PIF before they bill and pay for each visit).. For one of them, they can’t seem to properly communicate with our insurance company in order to get it billed properly. My other son, they supposedly sent me a refund check over a year ago that never arrived. Since October 2017, I have communicated with their offices at least a dozen times, several times in person in their office. Every single time, they have told me that they will re-issue the check but this has never been done. Numerous times they have blamed it on not having my correct address, but the fact is they have no problem getting bills to my address. Every time I confirm my current address with them, they supposedly input it into the system. At one point, they input an address that was virtually unrecognizable when compared to my actual address (apparently Plaza De Toros is too difficult for some people, even when spelled out!). The last time I was in there, they told me that the check was in an office across street and has been sitting there for the last year. It would have been nice to know that I could just go over there and pick it up each and every time I have been at their building. Unfortunately, they tell me that no patients/ customers are allowed to go to that office. That makes sense, as it stands to reason that some people would more aggressive measures than I over a business’ complete lack of sense and ability to properly handle another person’s hard earned money. (I on the other hand, have resorted to an internet review, though I’m close to taking it to a courthouse But I digress). The last time I was there, this secret office was supposedly closed. They promised me that they would have a check overnighted the next day. That was nearly 2 weeks ago. I simply cannot fathom how so many people in a single department can be as incompetent as these people are. At one point, they sent me a bill for my son’s dentistry work- the same son under which account the refund is owed. I wrote on their bill, “Perhaps when you send the refund that you have owes of me for over a year, I will pay your bill .” I placed the annoyed bill and a copy of their letter stating they owe me a refund in the return envelope and mailed it back to them. I never received so much as a phone call inquiring of why their customer service is such a disaster and how they can help. My youngest son will be finishing up his orthodontic care there only because it has all been paid in full. Other than that, I will never utilize their services again, nor would I ever recommend them to anyone.
That being said, Dr. Marcello is fabulous. Too bad she’s a student Dr, which makes her only temporary. She’s a temporary shining star.

On May 15, I went to the clinic because I had severe pain in one of my molars, and the only thing they did to me was to take x-rays and nothing else, they did not check my mouth inside and they said that was all, ask what I do. To reduce the pain, they said to take advil and to call on Monday to make another appointment, I think that if you go for an emergency, at least they have to check you or do something, I could not spend more days with the pain that did not go away with me. nothing, in short, I arrived with pain and I went home just like that unpleasant experience

My wife had the privilege of being a patient there. She had a major problem with her teeth which had died due to strong pain meds after a broken back and infusion surgery. She saw Dakota a senior student there which was extraordinary in every aspect of his care of my wife. He made her very comfortable and was very professional. He made her the most beautiful set of dentures she could have ever dreamed possible. Well here we are 3 years down the road and her dentures are still perfect and she has never had to have any adjustments to either plate. Thank you all so much for being so wonderful with my wife Kim. I had a wonderful experience at the UAB dental school clinic this am. Both primary dental student and oral specialist residents were superb and got me through quickly and efficiently. Definitely glad that I did not wait the recommended 2 weeks given to me by Cahaba dental to get my issues resolved!

I went to oral surgery to have 2 extractions, the dentist and her assistant were super nice and explained everything and all was well, a few weeks later I had an issue with my gums being sore where a tooth was pulled, it felt like my gums had healed around a piece of tooth that was left, so I called to see if I could get in for them to take a look, I wasn't in any pain so it wasn't an emergency I just wanted them to take a look. The receptionist who answered the phone was the rudest customer service representative I have ever spoken with, OMG, her attitude was atrocious, people call there for help, if she spoke with me like that, I would hate to think how she handles people who are in pain, she should NOT be in customer service, I called the morning of 1-27-2022, SO BAD
