I've never been fond of dentists and over the years I've had some truly awful experiences; however, Dr. Shaffer is great. He's patient, calming, and explains exactly what is going on. He's been very honest about what is needed and I typically look forward to going when the appointment comes up on the calendar.

Very pleased. Previous dentist let me go for years with gum recession and always stated "everything looks good" when he would to his 2-minute evaluation after my cleanings. Then, when I had some sensitivity to cold and brushing, he said I needed to go to an endodontist for root canals and then back to him for fillings and crowns, which both equal big $$$. Went to Dr. Schaeffer after hearing from my sister (a 30-year dental assistant) that I could probably just have resin / composite fillings and be just fine. Dr. Schaeffer agreed that was a viable option and did it in less than an hour. Overall costs are probably less than $700 vs. $4,000 to $5000. Very pleased and highly recommend.

I've had a difficult time finding a dentist I like in Jacksonville since moving here in 2001. Having tried several in the area, I've found many are pushy about getting you to do extra services or trying to sell you things even when you say you're not interested. That's why I'm so happy to have found Dr. Shaeffer and Switzerland Dental. Everything about them is exactly what I'm looking for in a dental office. The staff is very polite. I never have a hard time getting an appointment -- even when I needed one in a hurry because of a crown that I had pulled off by a piece of Halloween candy! And Dr. Shaeffer is terrific. He's super nice without wasting your time. He tells you what is going on, what he recommends, and no extra nonsense.
