Best dentist I've found in KC! They are kind and helpful. They are able to navigate your insurance policies also. Please give them a chance as your dentist and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

2022 edit: I now work from home way up north but still drive 40 minutes down to BlueStem because they are the best dental office in Kansas City.

Previously, I’ve lived in fear of dental appointments for various reasons, but during this past year, I have had multiple appointments at the Haake Family Dental office, including evaluations, teeth cleaning, filling and crown repair, as well as impressions followed by multiple implants. The front office staff are always extremely courteous, friendly, and welcoming. I’m always called within a few minutes of my appointment time.
Dental Assistants, Michaela, and Savannah are so kind, patient, accommodating, and proficient. Barbie, my hygienist, did an excellent job. She was very gentle, and took the time to be very thorough. Dr. Stephen Haake is a PERFECT Dentist for the “fearful patient”. He is a kind and caring professional, explains all the options, works gently but efficiently, and STRIVES for PERFECTION in his work. Also, he was so willing to take as much time as needed for my many questions, never rushing me. From check-in to check-out (including insurance/billing and scheduling), Shannon and the other ladies are all so helpful and nice. I have been pleased with my care at each and every visit. I HIGHLY recommend this office due to the “family” atmosphere, EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE & EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS. I only wish I had become their patient earlier! Mary B. Overman, OP, KS.

02/23/21 My appointment today was with my Hygienist, Barbie. Again, I could not be happier with her work. She was extremely kind, friendly, gentle, but so thorough, and took her time to make sure that any potential problems would be discovered and reported to Dr. Haake. As during prior cleanings, Dr. Haake checks for any new findings as well. Double checking gives me even more peace of mind. Because I have required extensive dental work in the last few years due to fear and avoidance in the past, and have been so impressed with Dr. Haake, and ALL of his employees, as of this year, I’m scheduling 4 cleanings instead of the usual 2. I have to laugh at myself when thinking how my prior fears have completely vanished. One other aspect worth noting is Lauren (and their entire checkout team) are always willing to check my insurance coverage — so the maximum payment I’ll be responsible for is never a surprise—that too is very important to me!

6/8/21 Today’s visit was scheduled with Barbie (the most thorough and reassuring hygienist I think I’ve ever been to). As usual, she was AWESOME!!! She questioned an area on one tooth—and Dr. Haake agreed that it needed attention. I was unaware until a few days ago that the 18mo. Cobra plan I was on had ended as of June 1st — so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Dr. Haake’s office offers a very reasonable discount plan. Mary B. Overman, OP, KS.

Paige has been my Dental Hygienist for 2 years. As a now retired physician who did and taught procedures, I can tell when someone is giving their best efforts and is thorough. And With Paige as my hygienist, I have no doubt ( I’m not a flosser- so I know I’m some work). While Dr Haake has not yet done procedures on me, compared to some dentists he seems to be doing a very thorough exam . And, Both are VERY pleasant and professional, as are all in Blue Stem office that I’ve met. Highly recommended

I had a wonderful experience at BlueStem Dental. The reception area is very comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly. I was seen shortly after I arrived by Emily, Dr. Altomare's hygienist. Both Emily and Dr. Altomare were very professional, gentle, thorough and made me feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend BlueStem Dental.

Can’t speak more highly of this office and the staff. They go above and beyond to make sure your visit is as enjoyable as it possibly can be. The entire staff is top-notch in their areas of expertise. I would really like to give a special shoutout to Jeni, who is beyond wonderful and a huge reason I chose to make this my dentist office. Glad I found a dentist office I trust completely with my teeth, and I know they truly have my best interest at heart.

I was a new patient, with a bit of an urgent issue. BlueStem got me in the same day! Even better than that was the staff - every single person I spoke with was friendly and professional - they actually made a dentist visit quite pleasant. Highly recommended.

First time visiting this office and I was absolutely pleased. Although I did have a 15 minute wait after my appointment time, I was so pleased with the service. I do understand that appointments run over. Everyone was professional yet there was humor and friendliness between all the employees. I have found my new dentist and will recommend them to people going forward.

Have always had the best of care at Bluestem. Caring. Responsive. Accessible. Works with insurance or offers their own program. Great staff and dentists.

Followup review: I needed to be seen on short notice for a dental emergency and they worked me in the next day. They were reassuring, professional and interested in my follow-up care.
