Maryland Dental Specialty Group is an extremely unprofessional office and I would not recommend this facility to anyone nor will I ever return.

I first went there for a regular cleaning in Fall 2022. The first dentist recommended me to two other "specialists" in the same office. After I saw the third dentist, Douglas Dompkowski, I became concerned because he told me I had a few cracked teeth and would need to do a procedure, but did not explain what the procedure would be. My reaction was that since I had seen three different dentists, I would need a statement explaining to me what they discovered and what they were recommending to fix my problem. NO ONE RESPONDED TO MY REQUEST. Instead, after the visit I was given a piece of paper and told that they were contacting my insurance about coverage, and that they would get back to me. Instead, I got a call saying I had an appointment for January 3, 2023. I refused that date and we agreed for the 24th instead.

On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, I arrived early at their office for my scheduled appointment and to fill out any necessary paperwork, but was shocked by how poorly I was treated by the unprofessional staff. Upon my arrival, I was told nothing about communication with my insurance. I was told in Fall 2022 that the cost of my treatment would need to be submitted to my insurance in order to receive coverage, and that the office would contact me before my next appointment to confirm. However, no one contacted me as promised. Instead, I was simply told that my appointment was on January 24th. When I showed up at the appointed time, I waited in the waiting room, and no one communicated anything to me regarding the procedure that was about to take place or regarding the costs that would be my responsibility. Each staff member that I encountered at Maryland Dental Specialty Group seemed to intentionally leave me uninformed. From the assistant at the front desk to the dentist, Douglas Dompkowski, himself, I was left in the dark and unclear about what my treatment plan was.

I was placed in a dentist chair and the process of numbing my gums began. Suddenly, a staff member appeared with a document and pen demanding that I sign and pay before the dentist could proceed. I objected but they insisted, so I relented and pointed out loudly that I was paying UNDER DURESS. The dentist, Douglas Dompkowski, himself repeated derisively the words "under duress." He then went ahead with the procedure after first saying that he would do one side of the mouth and schedule another day for the other side. To which I replied that I wanted everything done that day. Dompkowski was very rough with me and had no bedside manner. When he was done with the procedure, he didn’t explain next steps or follow up treatment to me. He simply put his tools down, handed me a bit of mouth rinse, and walked away saying I needed to return in one month. The bloody bib was still around my neck. I needed more rinsing liquid, and help otherwise. I stayed there for several minutes, shocked, confused and in great discomfort. I had to shout for help. When someone came, he had to clean the sink which was cluttered with trash before I could use it. It was a pathetic situation. As I left the facility, I spoke with someone at the registration desk, detailing my sad experience. All they said was "sorry" as I walked out, saying I was most unhappy with my experience with them.

The entire staff was rude and untactful, lacked training and professionalism, and failed to communicate basic information to me about my treatment. They really deserve zero stars. Do NOT recommend!

Dr. Mclaughlin ( Dr. M) and her colleagues are very professional, at what they do. I'm very happy and pleased of what they had done for me. I'll recommend this dentist office to anyone. And I haven't been to a dentist in about 20 years.

I just took my son to the dentist and they’ve remodeled the place and it looks great!!! They also have a really friendly staff! No complaints about them!

I came in earlier last week, and the people at the reception desk were really nice, treated me good. Made it easy to set up my next appointment, especially “Yadi”

Very nice office , staff is very friendly and was attended to quickly . Doctor assured that I was comfortable and okay during my appointment and staff upfront explained the dental plan clearly . Had a great visit!

they’re awesome and quick. staff is great, i’ve only had one sorta bad incident, but it was quickly resolved. I genuinely appreciate how kind majority of the staff is!

Haven’t been to a dental office in some years and let me tell you: if you are looking for a group of professionals who are very nice very kind and puts you at ease come to this place. Because of the type of insurance I have most of what I need to get done is gonna cost a hefty price but Ms. Myra gave me two options, to to either get referrals to go to another location that will take my insurance or to get on another plan that cut the cost down by more than a half and stay here with them. Let me tell you even if there was no insurance to cover the costs I would still come here, I’m not gonna give up the chance to be treated by these beautiful people. I can’t wait for my next visit with Dr. Tam and I encourage anyone who is afraid of the dentist please come check them out you wont regret it.
