I went in this morning for an emergency extraction for my daughter. The staff were great but the dentist, the way she looked at me and talked down to me was so rude. She refused to do the extraction unless I let her pull two additional teeth. I use United Concordia for insurance but had to pay out of pocket. My daughter had one tooth I was worried about because it looked as if it may become infected. The other two teeth were just normal semi loose teeth that we could pull ourselves. My daughter is 11 and the excuse the dentist gave was that she wasn’t going to give her the gas for just one extraction and have her scream and throw a fit for just one tooth. I have no idea why she even thought this because my daughter was calm the entire time. She came in and said she can either pull all three teeth (which would have cost almost $500 for me) or she can give me a referral. I asked is this about money? And she said “no, it’s about doing what’s right for your kid!” As if I’m not already trying to do that. Luckily her referral to Sparkling Smiles Pediatric Dentistry was about the only nice thing she did today. They were wonderful and extracted just the one tooth that was necessary. I wish I would have read the reviews for this dentist before scheduling this appointment. And after reading her response to the reviews, I’m sure she’ll make me out to be this horrible crazy mom. Just be weary, especially if you are military and use United Concordia because you have to pay out of pocket and “may” be reimbursed later if it’s approved.

I was referred to Smile Time Family Clinic by my regular family dentist. Well a slight emergency came about and my dentist was out of his office that day so they referred me to Dr. McCurdy's office Smile Time and since that's where I been going for my dentist. Nothing against my prior dentist but I just seemed more relaxed at this one, understood more of what they were trying to explain to me, they are caring and gentle when working on me. I greatly appreciate Dr McCurdy and her staff for getting me in on the short notice occasions that I have and working with me on my financial payments. They are a great bunch of people. If I could give you 10 stars I would but I'm only allowed 5.

Update: April 18, 2022, I finally received $83 of $138 that I was suppose to be refunded January 2021. I paid $713, and I was only suppose to only pay $575 according to claim receipts. This whole issue isn't recent or the first time. It should have been identified and fixed at the beginning of last year. Dates and claims listed below.

Keep all receipts. You'll never know when you'll need them to prove your case. Their financing department is a huge mess. They go by what they have written down on notes instead of looking up info.

Posted is the first and only dental statement I received from their office since my visit in April of last year. Also, proof of claim receipts and my own proof of paying the dental bill that they claimed I did not pay in April.

At every visit, I paid what I owe in full and was told I had no balance every time. I have tried having a good mindset when I kept going back for visits at Smile Time because maybe they're understaffed, but I literally can't anymore.

When I called about this dental statement, I was told I didn't pay for my fillings in April. I gave proof, and the comment was made, " I'm just going by the notes." After the call, the issue was not fixed. During that same call, I requested that Smile Time email me a statement of payments and services received. I was never emailed. I called a few days later and was given a different reason for this bill. Despite the claim receipts and my proof of payments, they still went by what someone had written down on notes. Trying to get money that has already been paid is FRAUD. There's absolutely no communication at all. They haven't called to let me know there has been any kind of issue before I received this statement in March 2022. I was told that the insurance lady would call me back because apparently she's never in office when I call. I have not once received a call back.

The reason for not calling me back all of 2020-2021 when I had the same issue was because "the notes said the number wasn't in service." Not true, we always pay our bill. Instead of picking up the phone to try to call, they just read someone else's notes on my account. I have requested several times for that note to be removed. As patients, we shouldn't have to go through this. We shouldn't have to stress and do all the digging to fix their mistakes. They do not care and only make jokes for being annoying. We ended up switching dental offices and have not had one of these problems that we experienced with Smile Time.

They owe us a refund from the services of 1/18/21. I went ahead and paid $913 total for a partial. $200 were for "lab fees." As you can see on the claim, the total amount I should have even been charged for is $575 not $713. Humana covered $82 in March 2021 and went back to cover the $44 April 2022 because they needed an EOB from BCBS. Which I had to find out for myself and when I was looking for Smile Times mistakes. They swear up and down that the insurance did not pay them anything.

I still have the phone recording when Humana contacted them to help me solve the issue. They experienced the same feedback. They didn't know where the amount that they were trying to charge me came from, and Humana also brought up the fact that I was suppose to get refunded. The insurance agent kept getting transferred to someone else. They were looking forward to hearing the problem because even Humana said it sounded like a big mess.

After investigating myself, I found out that 2 claims from last year didn't get paid because Humana needed an EOB. I personally made sure to get that to them myself. As of today April 7, 2022 those two claims have been paid for by insurance.

Like I mentioned, communication is lacking and they obviously do not care about customers. Looking at facts and receipts requires work that no one wants to do apparently. Still has not been resolved and I have not once received a call back from their insurance person.

Updated 9/9/22 It has been a year since the work was completed. I will be opening a law suit against Dr. McCurdy. I have to live with a bite and chipped teeth that irritate me incessantly. Its like having something stuck between my teeth 24/7. Eating is now a much less enjoyable experience as I'm required to give conscious thought to making sure I don't chip or damage my teeth any more than I have. This clinic has not had good ratings for the past year. Look at all the most recent ones.

Public reviews exist to keep businesses in check. They promote good practice and fair treatment. Here are 3 excellent reasons why you should give your patronage to another dental clinic. Reason (1) Dr. McCurdy is either inept at her practice or is in too much of a hurry to do good work. After a 3 hr. and a 4 hr. appointment to replace several fillings (McCurdy worked on my teeth for no more than 1 of those 7 hrs, since she was also seeing 2-3 other patients at the same time), I was left with a severely misaligned bite. I brought this to her attention at the second of the two visits when all the work was completed, but after working on my teeth for a few minutes she appeared to get frustrated when I kept insisting that my bite felt horribly wrong (I noticed that she had received at least two calls from an assistant in another room over her ear-piece. Yes, she would stop to bush a button under her gown and speak to someone in the other room. She kept saying she was almost wrapped up with me) Finally, she told me to come back another time if the problem persisted after my jaw had time to rest. I returned the next week stating that the bite was still off and McCurdy attempted to fix it a second time. When asked if it was better I said that is wasn't, to which she replied that I wasn't biting down correctly(?) and I should let it rest longer. Over the next couple weeks I chipped two of my chewing teeth and caused some kind of nerve damage to another (Possibly cracked. Its sensitive to hot and cold and brushing. Never had that problem before). I am only 31 and did have pretty good teeth. Reason (2) I had paid $571 after the work was completed, all that was estimated to be left over after insurance. A week or two later I received first one bill for $121 and then another for $289. A total of $410 more than what was initially estimated out of pocket (a picture of the hand-written note from the clinic stating this is attached). I spoke with a friend who works for another dental clinic who stated that they should have been more diligent to give me an accurate estimate before the services were rendered. Reason (3) I called to inform the clinic that I had experienced several issues with my teeth after the work McCurdy had done, and to ask is a portion of my remaining bill could be waived, in order for me to go to another clinic to have my chipped and broken teeth repaired. Their response was that if I was unwilling to see McCurdy again to have the teeth repaired (which I had made clear was NOT going to happen), then I would have to go somewhere else and pay them out of pocket. I called several times to ask them to reconsider, and was hung up on three times. They are still insistent that I pay the remainder of my bill, for a total of $982 out of pocket, even though it will cost me at least $600 to have someone else repair the damage that resulted from DR. McCurdy's ineptness. There are other things that merit a bad review that I haven't included here. Seriously, go to a different dentist. This one does not have the patient's best interest in mind. Yet.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. Firstly I love the dentist as well as my hygienist, Chelsea. Chelsea is such an amazing human. They knew I have a fear of needles and they did their best to accommodate me. I was cold, they gave me a blanket. I had to have a deep cleaning and I'm so happy with my teeth. I'm just so thrilled with this dentist and the supporting staff. :) Thanks y'all!!! :D

We love most of the staff but we have had many appointments scheduled that they have called and changed. The last 2 appointments have been for 2pm. We arrived at 1:40 and both times did not leave until after 5. For fillings that usually take about an hour. My daughter has had to be re numbed because she sat so long it had to be re done. Apparently they are overbooked. We love the staff but will be finding another dentist.

Okay, I'm going to be very honest here. The ONLY reason I'm giving a positive review of this establishment is because of a recent interaction with the person currently in charge of billing, Mrs. Sarah Morgan. I also want to be very clear that I have not had rec'd any services from this establishment in a couple of years, so it's very possible (and in my opinion, probable, judging by my experience with Mrs. Morgan) that things are better than they were when I stopped coming. On my last visit, I had an outstanding balance of roughly $280. Part of the reason that I stopped coming was because of the fact that I didn't feel like the staff was upfront about how much I was going to be expected to pay, and I was unhappily surprised by the fact that I suddenly owed money on a procedure that was already done - not exactly like you could return it after the fact. It felt shady, if I'm being honest. I felt uncertain about the honesty of the establishment, or at the very least, the person in charge of this aspect of the business. Fast forward to now, and I feel have the opposite impression. After speaking with Mrs. Morgan, it became clear to me that she is determined to be upfront and transparent with all patients that come through the door. She was professional, caring, understanding, efficient, helpful, and really took the time to hear me out, listen to my concerns, and most importantly, genuinely care about them. Her goal was to help make things right and she did just that. I know without a single doubt that she is a huge asset to this establishment, and it's encouraging to know that my previous grievances in this area will not exist for current and future patients. Well done, Mrs. Morgan! And well done, Smile Time, for bringing her on.

Bad experience with the dentist. Dr. McCurdy is very slow and rough with not only the needle but everything she does in your mouth. It took half a day for her to figure out i needed a root canal. Then she was going to sent me to a specialist that was going to charge me more money than i could afford. I went to my husband's dentist and saved $700.00 dollars and he didn't hurt my mouth. Monday i had her to put the crown on and today my mouth really hurts. I will have to contact my husband's dentist to get my mouth well. After all of this and already having paid over $2500.00 for one tooth, i am going to have to go and spend more money because my tooth is still hurting. Never Again!!!

EVERY staff member, from the front desk to the escort out, help create a calming, professional, and pleasent atmosphere. This was my first visit and the exam extraction process went so smoothly (and I HATE tooth extractions!). The made sure I wasn't in pain and listened to any concern.

Smile Time Family made me feel welcomed and they took care of my issue quickly. I'll be bringing my family to them in the future 😊

When you first walk in very pleasant greeting from the staff. Wait time was very long but when you get back there they spend a lot of time with you and do very good explaining any issues you're having. They are very up to date with technology and show you everything on computer screen which is very informative. They did an excellent job and I greatly appreciated their friendliness, making you feel at ease, and taking wonderful care of me. I reccomend them for you're dental care for sure!
