Tried to use my insurance and the front desk said it wasn’t going through. Called our insurance company and agent, we were told everything was fine and should have gone through. We were instructed to call Mehlville dentistry again and the woman who answered was extremely condescending and when asked what her name was she hung up. We have been trying to deal with a simple issue for weeks only to be given rude responses from Mehlville Dentistry. The front desk should definitely work on reflecting the rest of the office that do a great job.

Very good place in the beginning. They have as all places taken a hit due to Covid. Staffing issues have caused them to shut down unexpectedly (they took their hours off the door) and they have failed to communicate this which results on a wasted trip not just for me but for others that showed up while I trying to get ahold of someone. Also had a billing issue and I got a letter stating I was going to collection if I didn't pay a $0 balances. They fixed it the 2nd time I called. I really like the staff but I need reliability. I just postponed my treatment a few months and maybe they will get their staff and hours together.

My care team was Dr. Howard, Sue, Cory and Tatiana. And they ALL were fabulous. Tatiana greeted me right away as I walked through the door and explained my benefits in a thorough and detailed manner. Sue cleaned my teeth very precisely and explained what she was doing and offered great tips for maintaining teeth health. Cory had an amazing calm demeanor to help ease my anxiety and provided explanations on everything he was doing which also helped relieve my horrible dentist anxiety. And Dr. Howard was truly amazing! He too eluded a calm presence and his funny, interesting stories helped take my mind off of all the anxiety I had. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the services offered and the entire team providing my care. And this is SO very important to a patient that has severe dental anxiety. I appreciated each and every one of them and will/have recommended them!

I have been a patient here for over 5 years but will not be returning. My appointment was with Dr. Howard, never had seen him before. I waited 45 minutes after being 15 minutes early. After I was taken back I had the fastest cleaning and exam I have ever had. His hygienist was abrupt and not personal at all. I felt like she was annoyed that I was there. I went up front to check out and Tatianna at the front desk said I owed a $50.00 co-pay. This was incorrect as I only had a cleaning and exam which was preventative and is covered 100%. She argued with me for 10 minutes. I wasn't paying it. I went home and called my insurance and I was correct. I call Tatianna and she said yes, she called as well and agreed, I was correct and apologized. Apparently they have an outside company doing all of their billing for them and they had incorrect information on my account. My special needs son had his cleaning a week later. The hygienist Chelsea was outstanding. She is too good to be working there in my mind. She was happy and talked my special needs son through everything. Thank goodness that my son's appointment was uneventful, because my husband who was schedule a week and a half after my son's appointment, had the worst visit ever. My husband had his visit at the end of their business day and like me saw Dr. Howard. They said he needed a deep cleaning which was going to cost $450.00 after insurance, out of pocket for this deep cleaning. He declined the deep cleaning because he said he never has had any issues before with the regular cleaning and was seen only six months ago. The unfriendly assistant and dentist left the room. The unfriendly assistant came back in the room, unhooked his bid and said, "We are done here, you can go." My husband ask her if they were going to clean his teeth and she said no that he declined the deep cleaning service they suggested so they are done. I couldn't believe this and I called the dental office the next day to see what was going on and told her that I was not happy with the way we were being treated and I use to love coming here. I was told that in my husband's chart they said that he has had periodontal disease and that they suggested the deep cleaning and since he declined that they couldn't clean his teeth. Never was my husband told that he had periodontal disease. This made me even more concerned and a bit angrier. I asked her, since no services were done if anything was going to be billed to insurance because my husband still needed to get his teeth cleaned by a different dentist. Tatianna said no, my insurance would not be billed. My husband later went to my daughter-in laws dental firm further away in Central West End (she is a dental hygienist) so we could get an honest opinion of my husband's teeth and guess what....no periodontal disease, per the dentist. Only two deep pockets which my daughter-in-law cleaned with a water pick. At this visit the girl at the front desk ran my dental insurance and we found out that Modern Dentistry billed my insurance for services that were not rendered. I now have my insurance involved to get to the bottom of this. What a nightmare. We were billed for a cleaning and exam with Modern Dentistry that was never completed. My husband was in and out of there in 15 minutes and never had a cleaning. This is absurd. I seriously use to love Modern Dentistry when Dentist Dr. Allison was here. I had Dr. Goldberg last year and he was great too but unfortunately my family and I will not be going back. They lost three good, loyal long term clients by tiring to be greedy, up sell for services not needed and for insurance fraud.

Be careful with this place. This clinic is money hungry. They will do unnecessary procedures knowing that insurance companies will not pay for them because are not needed, and then they will bill you for them. Ask what you are being charge for, do your own calculations to make sure they are billing you correct and accordance with your insurance. And be ready to respond because the front staff will argue with you. I will not go back to this place.

HORRIBLE MANAGMENT. I have dental insurance, as well as an HSA, and can pay for any bill. They never sent me a bill and sent me straight to collections. Collections never contacted me. Fast forward 9 months go to refinance my house and they are bringing my credit down significantly. I go and contact them, they can't find the account. I call every day for 2 weeks, never get a return phone call. Finally find out the office manager is in the office, so I go up there since I am only 5 minutes away..... SHE RUNS OUT THE BACK DOOR! I have to beg them to let me pay the bill I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY... they still never called me back. Now I get random text messages about resolving the debt because the debt collector sold the data to some scam company. Every one working the front office is HORRIBLE. This company is HORRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Dr. Goldberg, you were great, your company SUCKS.

Dr Howard was wonderful very professional and cordial he also did a very good job making my total upper and partial lower denture. With that being said the three stars are due to the fact that this company is outrageously over priced. Over $5000.00 …my cost being over $3000.00 and insurance paying $2000.00 and there is no warranty. I also had to pay in advance. While the teeth are nice and look good I have family that has paid a lot less that look good and have a warranty.

I really enjoy the experience I receive at Mehlville Modern Dentistry. I have been going for some years, and I always enjoy interacting with the staff. I have a lot of anxiety around going to the dentist and the staff like Dr. Shurouk and Tatiana help ease that anxiety.

This place changed my life and completely made my smile, Dr. Howard involved me in every step of the process including helping to design my crowns and watch them be made, he was honest and patient with the million questions I had and more importantly listened to me after day 1, about 8 hours worth of work, I was tapped out and told him as much and he stopped and we scheduled another day after some time for my mouth to heal. The hygienists and assistants were amazing they took time to talk to me between work and helped to keep me in good spirits even making light of the blood that ended up on their mask when working. The receptionists were beyonf patient with me going in and out between work being done for fresh air and making sure me and my wife didn't get locked out because work was being done well after posted business hours they were amazing with making sure my appointments were made and working around my work schedule. Over all everyone in the office went above and beyond! Being as I do not have a good experience with dentists and I have walked out of procedures in the past at other offices this place was a breath of fresh air!
