Academy Dental Care

I've been coming to Academy Dental for a few years now along with most of my family. The atmosphere and quality of work have always impressed me. In particular, I appreciate their ability to conduct various work from hygienic to cavity removal while inducing minimal discomfort.The entire staff, from their office to the dental chair, is friendly and helpful.

Love, love my hygienist Debbie! She does amazing work and I just love her. I love Dr. Gonzales. She is always so happy and joyful. Makes a not so great experience much better.

When I first came to Academy Dental Care, my gums were bleeding. I had one tooth that was cracked. Dr. Gallagher removed it and installed an implant. After 50 years, I had 3 fillings that had worned down and I had 2 infections. Dr Gonzales save the molars and crowns were installed. I now floss every day. My gums and teeth are doing great now. I wish to thank Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Gallagher and all their staff for their caring and support. I am 73 years old and Academy Dental Care has greatly improved my dental health. Joe

Never met such a team. They are so great, they care.... really care for ones dental health. Such great service, the doctors are amazing and the hygienists have the best hand with cleaning teeth.

Will not go else where, highly recommend you to visit them.

I'm giving Academy Dental 4.5 stars and rounding up to 5....this is further explained below.

I've been seeing Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Gallagher for 2 years now, and have had fillings, some cosmetic work, and a crown done. They have a very high level of attention to detail, something I have not encountered before. I'm in the medical field, I'm from NY, and have moved around a bit, and have been to my share of dentists, and they're by far the best. The reason I took off half a star is because the level of quality and care I've received comes at a cost. They're not inexpensive, but they accept insurance; however, you get what you pay for, which is why I rounded up to 5 stars and not down to 4. While I'm living in New Mexico, I wouldn't go to any other dentist simply because it's not easy to find the level of quality and care they provide.

About a month ago, my pregnant friend had a dental emergency, and she asked who I used, so I told her...again. Dr. Gonzalez's staff got her in right away. She used to use the place that has billboards all over roads and highways, but they weren't able to get her in for a week, and she's pregnant!!!! My friend really liked Dr. Gonzales, they took care of her, she thought the place was immaculate, and even mentioned that she thought the staff wore cute outfits....go figure.

Any fan of cinema, or any storytelling for that matter, will tell you that a proper tale isn't complete unless some form of backstory is given to the character. My story is no exception. To properly understand my journey with Academy Dental Care you must first gain knowledge of the status of oral cavity upon my first visit.

As a child my parents instructed me in the proper care of my teeth. Consuming more Pepsi and Skittles then a child should I still made the effort to maintain my incisors. Its unfortunate that some habits do not ingrain as deeply as they should. Upon reaching my mid/late teens not only did I nearly give up on preventive care, I also took up the habit of smoking. Perhaps this might not have been so horrendous had I curbed my sugar habit but it had only increased. By my mid twenties I was still living in a fairy tale world. My teeth had developed cavities at the base. A sensible person would see this as a wake up call. Mr. Intelligent writing this review decided to wait until tooth pain set it. If you have never experienced this you have quite a fun time to look forward to. After having my tooth pulled by an emergency dentist I concluded I had to grow up.

Doctor Gonzales was recommended to my by a coworker. He stated they were friendly and not much else. Trusting this persons opinion I scheduled my first appointment. One of the first questions asked upon my initial examination was if I was a user of Methamphetamine. Now perhaps you don't appreciate this kind of honesty from people but I needed it. The statement gave perspective to my plight. To this day I use it as a reminder of how far I let myself slip and to motivate me to reach my goals for a healthy clean mouth. Multiple pulls, crowns, and fillings later I am nearly at my goal of maintaining my teeth and no longer trying to fix them. The staff have helped walk me through this process at every level allowing me to form a long term goal plan.

As great as the work done on mouth as been I can truthfully say that is not the main appeal of Academy Dental Care. The way the staff interact with their patients(well I can only judge my self and my spouse who switched at my suggestion) is true highlight of this business. I feel welcomed and warmed the moment I step in the building. I feel like everyone greets me and knows my name even people who haven't worked on me. Details I have shared about myself are not only remembered but conversations from previous visits are continued. I cannot adequately convey my desire to never have to change dentists.

Now perhaps you're like me and feel a completely positive review does not offer a proper well rounded review of a business. I wish I could offer something negative about my experiences. Perhaps how much the work has cost me has been difficult to deal with. While this is true, it is unrelated to building itself and due to the amount of work I created for myself. In the years I was neglecting my teeth I never envisioned I would actually look forward to my regular cleanings.

It's funny sometimes where your life takes you.

Academy Dental Care is simply an excellent office! Their service is as good as one can get and the staff truly make you feel cared for and comfortable. I would certainly trust those at Academy Dental Care to take care of any of my dental needs. I highly recommend them to anyone searching for excellent dental care.

This place is wonderful, the staff are very friendly, caring & super thorough, I always leave with a huge smile! I'm happy I found this place. Dr. Krohnfeldt is amazing at his job, and tish is one of my favorites also!

Dr. Gallagher has been my dentist since 1981. There was no reason to change. Both my kids were raised in ABQ, and he was their dentist too, until they grew up and moved away. He's a great dentist, the entire staff is welcoming and competent. They are efficient yet you never feel rushed. Upon arrival for my appointment, I barely get a magazine open before I'm already being called in. Berta is the best hygienist ever! Dr. Gallagher is semi retired now - he only works on Monday. But his partner Dr. Gonzales is superb as well.

I am very picky when it comes to dentists and dental offices and I have been nothing but impressed with the care I have received at Academy Dental. Nicole is the best dental assistant I have met and Dr. Hong is gentle and does an excellent job. I am very happy to have found this practice. Thank you!
