Stonehaven Dental

I’ve been going here for a few years now. They do a great job, are professional, give great BYU discounts, and do activities to show they appreciate your business (such as free movies). I’d recommend them to anyone!

Such a great office. My kids LOVE going to the dentist and ask when they can go back months in advance. They are so gentle and do their best to help everyone feel comfortable.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Stone Haven dental Provo office to anyone. They have been so kind and professional with my family. My four children have had horrible experiences at other dentist offices and have been terrified, anxious and upset to return to a dentist. They all LOVE to come to Stonehaven dental Provo! The staff are so nice and really take the time to talk to and care about each one of us and our personal lives. Dr Neilson is very professional and does great work. Kalani could always make my boys laugh and really cared about them making them feel at ease. Thank you Stonehaven dental!

I love this office except for Dr. Moody. He really lives up to his name. He is rude and acts like he would rather be anywhere else in the world instead of helping you. Besides him, the other doctors and staff are great.

I am not one for bad reviews but someone needs to say something. I have always had bad teeth. No matter how much I brush or floss, I cannot keep my teeth from cavities. 3 years ago I went into this location and had over $3000 worth of work done and that was with insurance. 3 years later, 1 of the root canals they did I had to pull the tooth a year after because it wasn't done properly. 2 of the other teeth they fixed cracked and they tried to tell me that it wasn't cracked, but when half the filling they did was missing, that's an issue. Then one they did multiple fillings, broke in half and now they are asking for an additional $2100.00 for a root canal. I have been to both the Provo and Lehi location to try and get them to fix the poor work that was done to begin with and neither location has done anything to help except ask me to spend more money. This is why people don't want to go to dentists. On top of that Stonehaven claims to help and give back to the community, but not before taking advantage of their paying customers first. I will never go back there nor refer them to anyone either. Not to mention the outrageous bill my ex and I got stuck with because they screwed up on the billing for the insurance for my kids and now they are refusing to accept that they made a mistake. Do your research first. I would rather pay another dentists to fix all of the mistakes they made than ever go back, but I will have to wait till I have the money. This place does not guarantee their work and if they say they do, they try to find a way to get out of it.

Also look closely at their reviews. 90% of them are not actually from clients who have been there. They are from friends of friends who say they have been there or they are just fluff to bump up their Google rating when it should be worse than what it is. Most of the reviews are also just about there awesome website or Facebook page but none of these people actually had service there. A great website or facebook page does not qualify for a review or make them qualified dentists. Smart on there part. Shame on us for not reading them more thoroughly. As a single Dad of 3 kids, I don't know why this place would think it's okay to take advantage of hard working people to line there own greedy pockets. I paid good money to these people for the last 3 years and instead of helping me they give me an x-ray for free, but then ask for even more money to fix their mistakes. I will ask the BBB to look into this further.

First off the front desk and hygenists are awesome.

I was told I have ~7 cavities by Dr. Nielson but when I went to another dental office I was told I have zero with one spot that's concerning.

Wife had her wisdom teeth removed. She mentioned she was having more pain than expected, so we scheduled an appointment and had it looked at again. Dr. Nielson said it was normal and sent us on our way. A pretty large piece of bone ended up being inside her socket and it worked it's way out of her mouth after about a month.

The customer service was very helpful and polite. I had a informative experience. The Dental staff seem very knowledgeable and very friendly. Easy to get and make an appointment. Once I have an actual visit i can determiner if I should recommended them to friends.

My wife and I have gone here while at BYU, and they have been wonderful! Kalani always treats us like good friends and remembers us well. He's awesome! We highly recommend it.

If you're someone who has dental anxiety, don't even bother going here. I have never disliked a dentist this much. Dr. Moody is extremely condescending and will make you feel like a child for being afraid of the dentist. Last time I went, I requested to have Dr. Neilson because I had yet to have a positive experience with Dr. Moody. That was probably the worst dentist visit of my entire life. I had just finished a retreat on my root canal at my endodontist (because I would never in a million years trust Stonehaven to retreat my root canal) and I was told to go to my regular dentist to get a permanent filling put in. I went in to get a permanent filling with Dr. Neilson and I was incredibly shocked at how rude he was. I have serious dental anxiety and I am always sure to tell my dentist before hand so he is aware. While he was working on my tooth, I was tensing up and making a moaning sound because the vibrations and the jerking in my mouth terrify me. After a couple seconds he pulls everything out and says "Ok, STOP. You need to calm down. You can't be acting like this, there are people next door! If you keep acting like this I'm going to have to sedate you." in a very rude tone. I understand dentists have to deal with all kinds of anxiety on a daily basis, but that's no excuse to treat a patient that way. Anxiety is a real thing. I don't expect my dentist to understand WHY it's scary for me even if I am numb, I expect them to be gentle and patient. I would easily give 1 star, but I decided to give 2 because the front desk ladies and the dental assistants are all very pleasant and kind. They are very sweet and do their best to help you have a good experience.

Update: 7/8/2019 I just changed this from 2 stars to 1. I just returned from another dentist in Provo (not Stonehaven) for a cleaning and exam after deciding to never go back to Stonehaven. My new dentist just informed me that my crown needs to be replaced. A crown that I JUST GOT last November from Stonehaven that I'm still paying off because guess what? They put it in incorrectly. I had an experience a long time ago with a different dentist where my crown was put in incorrectly and it caused bacteria to enter into my tooth which resulted in two root canals on that tooth. I am not at all interested in going through that again. My new dentist told me today that if I don't get this crown replaced, I could be looking at a root canal in the future. I literally having been paying off $600 for a crown that is useless.

Please save yourself money and stress and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Their business is absolutely terrible and dishonest. They do not care about you here, you are just a number. Because this is a big corporate business, they only care about quotas they have to meet and basically making you pay for overpriced treatments that could be done better with their eyes closed. Do yourself a favor and find a better dentist.

Dr Moody preformed a root cannel on me I had to go back in at least 5 times to have them finish it and to this day it has a rough feel to it. For the longest time I had an edge in there that would shred floss every time I would try to get in there. The worst issue was that that about three years ago I started to have a few dentist tell me that the crown that dr moody put on was failing. I made an appointment with dr Moody’s office and they told me that the crown was fine. I have since had three different dentists look at it and they all say the same thing. So today I bit the bullet and replaced the crown but the crappy thing is that my insurance won’t pay again for that tooth so I got to pay for the whole thing. When I called dr Moody’s office I was informed that they wouldn’t do anything for me. And that they only warranty crowns for one year. Think carefully before going here they are nice people but apparently won’t stand behind their work.
