I was very impressed with all the precautions that they had in place to keep me safe. I’ve been a patient of this practice for over 19 years. I’m quite disappointed with this practice. Dr. Christofakis is one of the nicest dentists I’ve had. But, his front office is beyond incompetent. I needed to have a crown replaced that had come off. The front office contacted my insurance company and performed a pre-authorization. They assured me that after speaking withy insurance company that the crown would be covered. So I paid out-of-pocket portion for the crown as well as two fillings. One of the fillings came out about 7 months after it was done. This is the only filling that I have ever had that actually came out. About this same time, seven months after the crown was installed, I began to receive invoices. The first invoice I received stated that my insurance was not in force at the time of service. This was absolutely incorrect. I contacted the office and they looked into it and then got back to me stating that the insurance was in fact in force but that the insurance denied the claim for the crown. Remember, this was after they had done a pre-authorization and told me that the crown would be covered and I have paid the out-of-pocket portion 7 months prior. The front office at this location it's so incompetent that they could not perform a pre-authorization to determine coverage. Of course, they blamed it all on the insurance. They refused to accept responsibility for their error and the young lady in the front office became quite indignant and rude. The front office personnel had all the customers service skills of a hammer! In the end, they refused to accept responsibility for an error that was clearly there fault. They continue to insist that I owe them hundreds of dollars for the balance due on the crown
- which doubled the amount that I had to pay. Had hey told me the truth and performed an accurate pre-authorization I would never have authorized them to perform the work especially given the rate that they charged. I'm in the process of filing a claim against this practice with the Department of Health Professionals in the state of Virginia. I would strongly recommend that everyone avoid this practice as they are unable to handle routine front office procedures such as insurance pre-authorizations. My family and I have moved to a different dental practice and are far happier and very satisfied with their services. I can see from the reviews here that this isn't the first time that they've screwed someone over and refused to accept responsibility for their incompetence. This is a very untrustworthy business!!
